Bulletin - September 2018

Survey results
Last month we shared a survey with you. We want to make sure to share the results likewise, and so you can now find those on the wiki. Additionally we selected one random winner, so if you filled in the survey and want to know of you won something, make sure to check out the forum announcement to find out.

In general the results were very positive, so that's always encouraging to see. We will make sure to act on the results where it makes sense. Over the next few months, I'll try and make sure to mention whenever we make changes based on the survey results right here in the bulletin. So keep an eye on this space!

If you have any feedback, don't wait for the next survey to come along. Any member of the Clan Council or the respective Guild Councils will be happy to chat with you on how we can improve.

Runefest
Runefest is only just over a month away. I know, time flies! I am really excited at meeting all of the visiting clannies this year. I definitely dropped the ball a bit on organising the weekend, but don't worry: I've done some preparation on the background and I'll make sure to share my plans with you after I return from vacation. Stay tuned for activities, awesome apparel, and more.

SHIRO

Hoods
Greetings

What is your favorite rs3 outfit that you own?
This one:

August 2018 022.png

What kind of music do you listen to?/what's your favorite artist/band/DJ/etc.?
Anything that was released before 2000 but mostly New Jack Swing, Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop. I love music from the 80’s & 90’s, and kinda the 70’s too, but the golden ‘era’ for me was around -87 to -92. Some of my favourite artists are Keith Sweat, Tony! Toni! Toné!, The O’Jays, Mint Condition, Isaac Hayes, The Delfonics, and last but "not" least Prince.

September 2018 007.jpg

Have you unlocked Player owned Ports yet, and if so: how did you call your ships?
*sigh* I’ve tried to get into that several times to get the katana and wakizashi, but I just can’t stick with it long enough to figure out how it works. Anyways my ships’ names are Bloody Ship and Rusty Ship lol, gotta do something about that sometime

What is your favorite in-game item?
RS3: 5000 Armadyl Runes cuz of sentimentality
OSRS: Ardougne Cape cuz of conveniency
Guild Wars: Red Iris Flower cuz of nostalgia

Are you more Mod Mark or more Mod Osborne?
Please... Mod Tytn. The man-sorry- genius behind most of my favourite quests

TORA

Are you an ozone yoyo?
I listen to O-Zone while I yoyo

Can you use a yoyo?
Barely, almost hit an old lady in the head with one once

Do you like to eat yoyos?
Sure, as long as they’re made of smörgåstårta

TRAVIS

What place in RS feels like home too you?
Morytania. I just love the atmosphere and it’s where some of my favourite quests and minigames take place

Do you prefer to quest blind, or with a guide?
I prefer without, but back in the day (or today in osrs) the quest log was just waay too vague to not have to look up stuff online. It’d be fun to do it blindly if you had someone sitting next to you and you try to figure things out together though. In rs3 the newer quests have a good quest log though so I just follow that and not look stuff up. Unless there’s a boss fight, then I’ll read up on it beforehand, or just whip out my old reliable deathtouched darts.

How would you route a tour through Geilinor?
Lumby->Al-Kharid->Varrock->Edgeville->Falador->
Taverley->Burthorpe->Catherby->Seer’s->Relekka->Ardougne

What got you into RS?
Everyone at school was talking about so I just had to check it out. The game was incredibly fun but it was also cool that Everyone you came across back then was either playing it or had played at some point

What is your favourite quest?
If I can pick an entire quest series then my #1 are the Myreque quests, and then right out of the top of my head I’d have to say the island, gnome and Fremennik quests.

DERP

How many 3000s could Choto Choto if Choto could Choto 3000s?
Every single one of them

What's your favourite real-world location, and why?

September 2018 008.png

What is your opinion on the holy art of Clue Scrolls?
I’m more of a Court Summons type of guy

What's your favourite clean, short joke that gets a chuckle every time?
I never use the same one-liner twice (unless it’s hilarious and I don’t feel particularly clever and witty in the moment)

What kind of Poké Ball would you be, and why?
The Pokéball, cuz its the basic one with no extras but everyone prefers it cuz it looks cooler to have captured a Mewtwo with a Pokéball than a Masterball

What's your favourite song lyric of all time, and why?
Toughest question so far, and I’ll probably have a different answer every time someone asks. I gotta say Prince - Muse 2 the Pharaoh. I can’t really explain why, it’ll just have to speak for itself

What music have you been listening to recently?
I’m sort of in between music types right now. Been hopping back & forth between 90’s hip hop mixed with some R&B. Trying to find some good romantic songs in that genre, I’ve had some luck but the search always goes on. And always New Jack Swing

TYCO

How would you describe yourself, both IRL and ingame?
IRL: Aimless Vagabond
In-game: Skiller, quester, and taskmaster

What is your first Runescape memory?
Sitting in fritids, having heard all about this new game. Tried to come up with a cool name, and then entered tutorial island. My favorite part was the mining & smithing area where you could just mine ore and turn it into weapons. Had never seen anything like that in a game before.

You get a ticket to visit Runescape IRL. Where do you go first?
I’d start in Lumbridge and visit the chef in the castle. Then head north to southern Varrock, the rough part of town where Black Arm Gang and Aubury live. After that I’d make some quick stops by Reldo and Vannaka before heading all the way to Ardougne and visit the market.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
Thank you! Also, can you make it so you can pet the stray dog in Varrock instead of just having the shoo option, and please add the Temple Trekking NPC lvl-up rewards to osrs.

Tell me your darkest secret that would make the Wizard of Oz look like a joke.
If I don’t finish a 2L bottle of Coca Cola, I take it out of the refrigerator so that nobody else will drink it until my next gaming session.

ALEX 43

Yup, it's me again.

What is the craziest thing you ever put in a blender, and how much did you regret doing it?
Never used one.

Same question as above, but with a microwave.
Kladdkaka, the plate split in half

Same question as above, but with your mouth.
Swear words

Same question as above, but with your pants.
Nothing (i.e. I regret going commando once)

Same question as above, but with your parents' wallet.
Lol why would I put something there

Same question as above, but with outer space itself.
My hopes and dreams

Same question as above, but without.
Syntax Error

CAM

WHAT is your favorite color?
Right now, caramel or beige

WHAT is your quest?
To earn the quest cape in osrs

WHAT is the answer to life, the universe, everything?
What is the question to life, the universe, everything?
[Editor’s note: Damn, he broke it]

WHAT is your favorite food?
Pizza, sushi, pasta and asian food

...Favorite drink?
Ice cold Coca Cola Zero

...Hard drink?
Nah it’s soft. And ice cold

What are your goals in game? Both rs3 and osrs.
In rs3 I don’t currently have one, I just do quests and new content as they’re released and try to keep up with new stuff. In osrs atm I’m trying to do all the quests and working my way through the diaries.

What are you doing in guild wars?
Just waiting for a major update/expansion to reinvigorate my desire to play. In the meantime I do dailies and keep up with new releases like in rs3.

What is your inner clan cult affiliation?
N/A
[Editor’s note: N/A? N/A?! WHAT ABOUT THE HOODIAN FAITH?!]

I know of your exploits into Old School. What is your favorite and least favorite OSRS quest thus far.
I have you to thank for the motivation to start playing osrs actually. Favourite quest so far besides my favourite (Myreque quests) would have to be Underground Pass which I finished about an hour ago. Least favourite is Evil Dave’s part of Recipe for Disaster cuz it turned my kitten into a hell-kitten.

WHAT is the wind speed velocity of a swallow?
¯\_(?)_/¯

CIREON

What is the explanation behind your name?
One of my ancestors lived in the village Zaz. When he left, people called him Ozazoyo where he went. It means “the man from Zaz” or “the Zazian”

If you were suddenly transported to Gielinor, where would you go live?
I think Ardougne or Brimhaven, maybe change depending on the season. I could see myself retiring in Entrana, or at least live there for a while.

And what job would you take?
I’d try to get a job at one of the Inns and serve some refreshing beverage to the adventurers of Gielinor, and maybe sell some products in the Ardougne Market. I’d love to be involved in a quest as well and hand out some cool, useful stuff in exchange for help.

What is the main difference between you - the player - and your in-game character?
My character is an adventurer while I’m a homey kind of person.

ZHI

Princess Astrid or Prince Brand?
Princess Mars.

CHOTO

HOODS
Hey! o/

When did you start playing?
Sometime around 2004.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
Fletching, I remember it as if it was yesterday.

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
*go back the way you came*

September 2018 009.jpg

nah but I’d say try the pizza, it’s really great here

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
In RS it’s Burgh De Rott, Ardougne and Brimhaven, and my favourite IRL locations are my bedroom, my old high school, especially the basement, and the place I hang out with my cousins.

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
“You gotta do what you gotta do” accompanied by a ¯\_(?)_/¯
and “The only love there is, is the love we make”

I know this one is gonna be hard, but: Which quest you believe to be the best?
I don’t know if there is a “best” one per se, but if you ask me I’d say maybe the awesomest, most meaningful and impactful one would have to be the one with Guthix when he takes you with him and tells you about his background and everything. Come to think of it, it’s one of my favourite quests but I forgot to mention it in previous questions lol.

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?
I don’t but I’ve tried learning. I’d like to learn how to play the piano, flute and harmonica.

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
I speak english and swedish fluently. Assyrian semi-fluently, and Arabic hilariously. I wish I could speak Hebrew and Latin.
[Editor's note: Da ba dee d- Mother of dead languages God.

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
My phone, to stay in touch with family and friends.

What’s your first memory of the Clan?
Not having a single clue what people were talking about with all the inside jokes lol

Which is the most interesting God? Why?
Guthix, no question about it. His backstory is so interesting and there’s just such a “feel good”-feeling about him

Coffee or tea?
I don't drink coffee, I take tea my dear

September 2018 010.jpg

Best thing of Clan Quest?
The fact that I can log in to the game at any time of the day and there's always a conversation going

What games do you play besides RuneScape?
I like to think of myself as somewhat of a stealth game connoisseur. Two of my all-time favorite games series are Splinter Cell and Dishonored. The reason I love them so much is because they’re so… cozy. There’s always a lot of thought put into creating a detailed environment and setting the perfect atmosphere when it comes to stealth, and every encounter is like a little puzzle with figuring out guards’ patrol routes, hiding in the right corner, and knowing when to move etc.

September 2018 006.jpg

Best movie ever?
Cat on a hot tin roof

Best book ever?
I don’t read much, but I remember back in elementary school I read a book about Sinbad. I don’t know if it was an original text from A Thousand And One Nights, but I loved it.

Why are you so awesome?
Hmm I don’t consider myself awesome, but thank you for saying that^^ I guess I just try to help someone when I can, make people laugh, and occasionally drop a hilarious comment/meme when I see an opportunity

What is the meaning of life?
I don’t think life has a meaning or purpose other than living it, enjoying the life we have been given, being thankful for it and treating others kindly.

ASSYRIAN?! REALLY?!
*ahem*
Thank you so much, Oza, you’re a great guy to work with, I loved your interview and I hope you stay with the editors so I can continue to enslave praise you. Have a great month!

QUESTAHOLIC PRESENTS
An interview with Mod Meadows
By Wolffi and the Puppies of Post-apocalyptic Piety
September 2018 011.jpg

Introduction

Please recommend a song to listen to while we read your interview.
Born to do this - absolutely the best piece of RuneScape music. All of the Dungeoneering tracks are incredible, I remember one day I was randomly chatting about RS music with Mod Grace and she told me that she created all of the boss tracks for Dungeoneering; I have to admit I fangirled quite hard. Dungeoneering music was my childhood! It was my first 200m, and I was one of the first people to get 99 Dungeoneering back in the day.

What do you believe the community to most associate you with?
TinyWoof?

Who are you and what is your position at Jagex?
Well, hello! I’m Mod Meadows - I’m a member of the Community Management Team after doing a 9 month stint in QA.

Tell us the story behind the name Mod Meadows!
Meadows is my last name!

Basically, back in the Medieval times, lords and ladies who owned land took on the name Meadows, as well as people who lived near it. Somewhere along my ancestry line was a lord that owned land, however I don’t quite know how long ago that was!

Meadows in RuneScape

When did you start playing RuneScape?
What’s RuneScape? Never heard of it…?
(Just kidding, it was back in ‘07)

Who’s your favourite RS god? Why do you think he/she deserves your humble vassalization?
Zaros is a babe.

Which quest(s) you believe to be the best?
While Guthix Sleeps was an absolute game changer for me, it was an incredible story and the whole thing was just inspiring. Children of Mah was also incredible, the story was awesome - I adore the Mahjarrat storylines. Dragon Slayer 2 was also a masterpiece, Mod Ed really set a standard for Old School RuneScape Quests with this one!

Meadows at Jagex

What attracted you to Jagex and when did you join the team? “What didn’t attract me to Jagex?” should have been the question. Absolutely everything about this place drew me here, RuneScape was my childhood - and growing up I believed so much that working at Jagex would be my destiny.

I’m someone without any video game experience, however I know RuneScape - and I know the community well. So Jagex gave me a shot, and I’ve not looked back since!

Fun Fact: I used to write up lore theories and conspiracies on the Forums years ago. Two of my most noticeable and memorable threads would be “~I killed Bilrach” and “The Only Way Over ~ Kethsi”.

The first was a theory that the Strange Power was us killing Bilrach in the past, because the time dilation in Daemonheim would make the present be the past. (Basically we killed Bilrach in the present - but because of Daemonheims’ taint, the closer to the rift you get, the further back in time you are. So killing Bilrach in “our” present, is actually the “past” and when the strange power happened it was our future self in the past. It was all a bit crazy but some parts of it turned out to be true!)

What is the most challenging RuneScape project you have ever been involved with so far?
Every project is challenging to an extent, as each one is so different; now I am in CM I don’t actively QA test the content that is given to me.

However, for me the biggest challenge was QA testing Invention Batch 2 as it was such a huge project with so much going on. Everything had to be so finely balanced and perfect, I also went off for sinus surgery towards the end of the project and it was released while I was in hospital recovering.

What's your favourite aspect in being a part of the Lore Council?
Knowing all of the secrets that you guys don’t… 15- icon wink.gif

What's the one storyline in RuneScape you can't wait to continue?
I’d love to do more with Daemonheim lore, and tie up loose ends. I tried to open up some more story arcs when I wrote the Stalker lore book.

That book was so incredible to write, as I had the chance to define a whole race - and I was lucky enough to even create a planet out of it! That was pretty cool to write up, I hope I get to continue more with them in the future!

What do you think was your first achievement in the company?
My interview, I must have said something right for me to have got the job! (Does that count? I mean, it was technically in the company offices!)

Having been in the Community Management Team for a while now, would you go back to the QA team if given the choice?
I wouldn’t, not because I didn’t enjoy it, but because I love interacting with the community; I love my job so much - and I also love talking so this role is perfect for me!

When you joined the CM team, did you expect more work, or less?
I wouldn’t say I expected more or less work - each day is different in CM, while most days are very structured in QA with a defined routine.

What are the best and worst parts about curating Player Moderators?
I love working with outstanding members of the community, who really try to make RuneScape a lovely place. The Pink Skirts Team do such a fantastic job running events for you guys, I’m so proud of what they achieve.

The hardest thing is often the hate Player Moderators get, just because someone has a crown doesn’t mean they’re any more important or valued higher than the average player. Lot’s of players aim for the crown - and that really isn’t what it’s about, in fact if you actively search for it… you probably won’t ever find it!

If you were a developer, what project would you most want to start working on?
Floor 61. Did I mention I love Dungeoneering and Daemonheim?

A lot of people loved the Vicendithas' Scribblings lore book, was there anything in the book that didn't make it to the final copy?
Pretty much everything I wanted to say went in there. It’s nice to give a story to a name.

Which specific content in the game do you hate/love most?
Is it bad if I say my lore books? It was always a dream of mine growing up to have something of mine in game, but now I have two books and that’s incredible - hopefully I’ll get a chance to write some more soon!

Miscellaneous

Among the JMods, who is your greatest ally and who is your worst enemy?
Okay, so this is a tricky one; I’m a pretty friendly person, and everybody knows me - I’m one of those people who just floats through life getting on with everyone and anyone. Worst enemy would probably be myself, anxiety and confidence issues at times can be my biggest downfall!

What is the nicest thing the RuneScape community has ever done for you?
Helped me find out more about myself, and accepted me for all my flaws. But more importantly, encouraging me to keep at it and be the best I can be.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned throughout life?
Never be afraid to be you, sometimes to find that out you need to be willing to ask for help. I suppose, I’d also say - question everything, even the weird things, try being philosophical and think about why things are. Don’t accept what you see, as not everything is black and white.

Best book, film, music track (or band) and video game (apart from RS) ever?
In honesty, I don’t really read much at all…

I really enjoyed the RuneScape books by T.S. Church - that’s not even a plug, I genuinely loved them. I bought them and read them wayyyyy before I worked here. It was so nice to be able to read a book from something I loved, and all of the characters were recognisable. I would love to see more of them in game in the future.

The most recent book I read was Five Chimneys by Olga Lengyel, it’s a very hard hitting and moving book. I would encourage you to read it if you have the chance, I’ve never read a book that made me full of different emotions - I’d go from sad, to angry to hopeful with each turning of the page.

Favourite Band - in honesty my music taste is so varied I couldn't quite tell you. However, I recently passed my driving test - and the first song I listened to was Applause by Lady GaGa; I felt incredible, and thought that song fitting.

Favourite video games - without a doubt are, The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn. The Last of Us is a game that I am not afraid to admit made me tear up a few times… so did the ending of the Uncharted Series to be fair. For me, story driven games are the most wonderful experiences - it’s the reason I love Naughty Dog so much. The Last of Us blew me away - I don’t really need to say much more because if you’ve played it, you’ll understand how incredible it is. Joel and Ellie's relationship is so beautiful, and it was just inspiring watching the creativity of the team behind the game.

I loved Horizon for their different take on story, I loved the idea behind it - and the idea of open world with machine dinosaurs. When I first saw the game, I didn’t expect much - but I decided to buy it as I heard good things about it. My gosh, I can’t even begin to explain how incredible the story telling is - I really hope they release a sequel. I loved how they re-created the idea we know of mankind, with aspects such as religion and philosophy really running through.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
I would just chat and catch up with them, probably suggest going for a drink and having a real catch up outside of work! Everyone is so friendly here, it’s not like a normal office environment I’ve ever worked in before.

On your AMAA some months ago you stated that you disliked Goebies, what prompted this?
Urgh, Goebies are gross. However, in fairness, I’m just trying to balance out the team because Shauny has such a love for them, I need to hate them to tip the scales.

Jagex grants you one wish. What do you do?
Make an IRL Lumbridge Castle. :p

Have you ever considered getting a friend for Mod TinyWoof/Rocco?
I try all the time, but I’m not allowed. 3- icon sad.gif

However, he does have my mum’s dog (Star) as his friend, he’s such a pack leader when he’s at my mum's. Star is a Vizsla, so she’s a huge dog - but he puts her in her place. It’s hilarious!

What are your favourite locations, both in RS and in real life?
IRL, it would have to be Dubrovnik in Croatia and the surrounding islands, I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan, but I find Croatia so peaceful. It’s a wonderful place to visit, when I’ve been there twice now!

I can’t really say a favourite location in RuneScape, as I definitely love them for different reasons. I suppose Daemonheim, would be one as I have many fond memories there. I love it so much!

I also find that the Gnome Stronghold has a place in my heart, as I met my partner there doing a farm run! But RuneScape isn’t a dating site, so you didn’t hear that from me.

Favorite quote and why?
“Stannis Baratheon is the one true king.”
… Because he is one true king. Was that ever a question?

With unlimited resources, how would your perfect vacation look like?
I’d travel the world, I’ve always wanted to backpack across Asia and America - would be awesome to see Australia too!

What country would you recommend me to visit and why?
Croatia - it’s incredible!

Do you have any plans for RuneFest 2018?

Of course, do you?
We'd like to thank Mod Meadows for allowing us to interrogate him for a special interview this month. Thank you also to everyone reading the interview, we hope you are enjoying the Double XP Weekend!

Fashionscape Contest
Hey everyone, It's Oza back again with more Fashionscape goodness! This time I won’t be displaying highlights of our awesome outfits though. Well, not yet anyway. Instead I've put together a Fashionscape Contest! I will share 5 hints for 5 NPCs. Based on those hints you guys have to first figure out who they are, and then design outfits for you character similar to theirs. When you’re happy with your outfits, you can send them to me via pm on discord, along with the name of the NPCs and your RS name. The deadline is on the 20th. Winners will all receive 1m each! I wish everyone good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing your outfits:)
Hint 1
99 attack? You're no match for me
Let me teach you how to fight, and keep one hand free

Hint 2
You can laugh at my name, but laugh behind my back
For I will continue to serve, and kill dragons that attack
Hint 3
I robbed and stole, yet my reputation I uphold
You can't hate me, I'm simply the best
Visit me, if you love quests

Hint 4
You think you can slay me? You won't even last
That dive you took to get here? It's a one-way path
Hint 5
Everything is black except my blade,
a noble sacrifice I made,
for the knights whom I saved,
and no, I'm not Evil Dave
How to enter:
  • Figure out who the NPCs are based on the hints.
  • Choose one or several NPCs, and create outfits as closely resembling as possible.
  • Send me a screenshot of the outfits along with the name of the NPC and your RS name via private message on Discord before the 20th at midnight. (optional: you can also write down the name of each weapon/armour piece)
  • The best outfits, based on creativeness and resemblance to each NPC, will receive 1m (1m each to 5 winning outfits)

Note: The NPCs are both male and female, however, you don’t have to change your character’s gender to match the NPC. In other words, you can cosplay as an NPC of the opposite gender and still be eligible to win.

Mobile Playtest Review

This August, I was invited to take part in the August run of the Android closed beta for RSMobile. I was specifically asked to test combat alongside all the other things I wanted to do with it. Here is my review after using RSMobile for this month.

GENERAL
Being a beta, there was a lot of bugs, as expected. By my count I experienced 25 explicit bugs, along with quite a number of strange interactions. The overall feel of the app was quite good, most things are quite easily clickable and responsive, and the game runs pretty smoothly with the auto setup settings for my S8. Data usage wise, after downloading the cache on wifi(remember to do this when you first download the app!), I used an almost insignificant amount of data, but the battery drain was extremely quick, think like 1%/min. I later found out reading the forum discussions that graphics settings were a very big player in battery life, so I lowered my settings to off/low for everything except water, which I kept at medium, in order to make my game still look like the RS I play. That helped my battery a lot, and even though the game still drained battery relatively quickly, it was a lot less than previously.

SKILLING/CLUES
Skilling and doing clue scrolls were pretty easy and fitting to do on mobile. In fact, thieving from Prif clans then doing the clues they drop is my go-to activity on mobile. Doing the clues is about the same speed as on PC, and barring some gamebreaking bugs(yes, some), they are really enjoyable to do, and great for passing time with an engaging activity that's friendly for mobile. If you like clue scrolls and afk-ish activities, you'll love mobile.

September 2018 013.jpg

COMBAT
Unlike skilling, this one's a bit(a lot) worse. Firstly, you are forced to have an AFK Revo bar, which is usually taken from your primary bar, so it can change with your style if you define it to. This means you can't control whatever you're doing in that bar, which for me was all my basics. Channeled abilities had to go their full duration if you didn't have anything on your manual input bar, which in my case was thresholds, to cancel it. Speaking of the manual input bar, there's much room for improvement for it, such as being able to put non-abilities(anything you can't find in the abilities tab) on the bar. I had to put my vamp scrim on the bar manually on PC! I've also discovered that (less than) 2 action bars worth of stuff is just not enough to be competent in combat, at least not for me. Also, when you have combat mode open, your inventory is tiny!
So for individual combat activities, here's what I think. For slayer, it's not the end of the world, especially if you have a task in the Sophanem dungeon for the auto-collect, but still very clunky and hard to navigate. Doable, but be prepared for the worst. For bossing, I went to Vindicta, as you'd expect me to, and immediately noticed my lack of abilities. There really isn't enough space. I had no slaughter, no ZGS spec, no blood tendrils, all because I didn't have the space for it. My average kill times increased by about 20s(~1:00->~1:20), and surprisingly my fastest kill was 1:10, which is normally the limit for me for acceptable kill times on PC. Don't do bossing on mobile if you can avoid it, it's just not worth it. For Dungeoneering, it's similar to slayer's experience, except instead of 40% of your screen being an interface, it's now about 60%. If you can live with that, and do your thing through that, you can do DG just fine. Still would not recommend, though.

OVERALL After having played the beta in this current state, I can say that all the delays of mobile are completely justified and I won't be surprised if we don't get an open beta this year. Mobile is currently riddled with bugs and really bad interactions, if it wasn't for the novelty of playing RS on the go, I wouldn't play it. I hope that by release, mobile will be much easier and smoother to use, without the bugs that plague this version and more.

RATINGS
UI/UX: 5/10 - Kinda clunky, kinda small, but still useable
SKILLING/CLUES: 8/10 - -1 for each gamebreaking bug, otherwise really good.
COMBAT: 2/10 - Yeah don't do it. Just because you can doesn't mean it's a good idea to do it.
OVERALL: 6/10 - Still much work to be done, but playable at least.

The Last Elegy

A Clan Quest story

August 2018 006.jpg

Chapter 8
The ball of fur the elf had stumbled upon began to raise. Growing bigger by the second, the light faded as its size blocked the fireplace. The creature stood on its legs, stretching its full length towards the dark ceiling. Tyco took a few step back as the red-haired beast growled again. He regretted that as the slight sound of leather against rock drew the beast’s attention. It sniffed twice. What happened next surprised him in more than one way.

- Well, if it isn’t a lost elf.
Tyco swallowed. He wasn’t sure if the creature was on his side or not. That soon changed as he saw a drop of saliva fall to the floor. The beast smiled and revealed his fangs. It approached him slowly.
- Don’t mind if I do.
Tyco span around and ran. Every cell in his body told him one thing: This had been a mistake. A huge mistake! He ignored the crunching sounds he made as he stepped on things on the floor he couldn’t see. He had no sight of an exit, but ran towards the direction he thought he had come from. He heard a large amount of things crack behind him and began sprinting for everything he was worth. His ear twitched and he leapt forward as a paw slammed into the floor just where he had been a second ago. Making a roll and getting up on his legs again, he swayed for a second before starting to spring again. But that’s where the chase ended.

He stepped on something in the dark and stumbled forward, struggling to regain his balance. Something soft grabbed his left foot and he fell forward. Struggling to free himself, he kicked what looked like a big paw as hard as he could. A hiss filled the room and the grip on the elf’s foot tightened. A clunk was heard as the helm of Netiznot fell on the floor and Tyco found himself hanging upside down. He drew his crystal daggers before freezing at the sight of the two red eyes looking on him. The beast sneered.

Then it saw something. Tyco followed its eyes and noticed the pendant dangling above (or rather below) him. He coughed as the beast took a long sniff and then let out a breath that could have woked a dead dragon. To his surprise, the paw let him go. The elf swung midair before landing on all four and taking a defencive stance. The beast snorted.
- Sooo…..this is what you have brought to be. But tell me, is he one of us?
- He is, and you will see it soon.
The elf span around as he heard the voice behind him. Two frightened eyes appeared from within the darkness. The light from the fire reflected in the man's eyes, illuminating them. After a moment of pause, Tyco was able to study the eyes more clearly. He had realized that the eyes belong to his friend that he had lost in the darkness. But more importantly he had put the daggers against Shane’s throat the second the man had announced his presence. He lowered them slowly. In his mind he cursed his reflexes almost bringing his friend to harm. The beast smiled.
- Excellent. Well, my dear elf. You must have many questions.
“You bet I do” Tyco thought. He felt Shane’s hand on his shoulder and looked at him. The man’s eyes told him “stand your ground”. This was no game. Yet Tyco had to ask that question. He had to take a risk here or he couldn’t bluff his way without being revealed. Going down on his knees, the elf spoke in a voice of devotion.
- I have heard many tales and rumors of you and your achievements. Yet I must know if they are true. I must hear it from the one being himself.
The elf made a dramatic pause. He felt how two pair of eyes were watching him intently.
- Are you the one?
Silence. He didn’t move. The slightest of hesitation or doubt would reveal his ignorance. To his relief the beast started purring. Taking a deep breath, it stretched out to its full length and seemed to grow even bigger. Then it spoke in a glorified voice.
- The tales are indeed true. We are the liberators. We are the ones who will bring equality. We will bring unity and power to all of the fuzzy kind.
Tyco knew the last sentence before it was said. Now he knew. Why the beast were at the citadel, why it was secluded at the very deepest part of it. But most importantly he knew who it was.
- My name is Kitty Spinereaver! And I am the one and true ruler of the PAWFIA!

Welcome back, noobs! This month we’ve had four nominees: Xil-Cam, Tasty Romeo, Ozazoyo, and Wolffi.

I want to nominate Cam. I've noticed more of us are trying out osrs and Cam has not only been super helpful with sharing great guides and advice in discord and his safekeep, but in doing so he has also been a motivation to give osrs a try. Worked for me at least, got that final push I needed to start playing and now I can't stop:)

Edit: I also want to add that besides being helpful to clannies, he has been an excellent ambassador for players outside the clan by helping out while representing clan quest both in the open world and when ppl drop by the clan chat

I think it is time I finally nominate Wolffi/Woofer/Glitterbrows.

Wolffi has helped me more than any other clannie over the last year or so.

No matter how stupid he must think I am in terms of the game he never makes me feel bad about my ignorance and helps me whenever he can. Even if this help leads to him dying multiple times by invisible flames, has him miss out on multiple pets, has him listening to me talking about him wearing a bra or me fishing for compliments for my cat, Ava.

I genuinely consider him a friend in game and off, and I am sure other clannies feel the same about him.

He is the best woofer and deserves a treat.

This nomination was seconded by Derparnieux

I'm gonna nominate Oza. On one of my last days playing RS Classic, I was in a tricky spot doing the fearsome quest Druidic Ritual -- basically, I'd got trapped in a room in Taverley Dungeon, with no food, no armour, low levels, and skeletons swarming outside ready to kill me. If I went outside without food, I was gonna lose all the four meats I'd painstakingly gathered (seriously, travelling anywhere on RSC takes an AGE... or at least, took an age)

Made an emergency call to the clan Discord -- "oddly specific request, anyone able to get some food to Taverley Dungeon in Runescape Classic??" And Oza came to the rescue, playing through the entirety of Tutorial Island just so he could trek to Taverley, cabbage and chicken in tow.

Helping out a quester, even when it takes a good deal of time and effort to do so -- I reckon that's deserving of a RAWR.

(I died anyway on account of a misclick. Oh well. RAWR-worthy regardless!)

I nominate Tasty Romeo for the RAWR award! Taking 2 noobs, myself and DanielJSaint, on our very first tour to Elite Dungeon 1: The Temple of Aminishi! In normal mode! No easy-peacy story mode, nononono. Not knowing anything of the dangers ahead, Tasty Romeo displayed both patience and willpower to get these noobs through anything that would come in their way. Despite repeated deaths and retreats at the dungeons final boss, he stayed with us until the very end until we freed the water dragon spirit from its torment. Setting us up for not only Elite Dungeon 2 but also giving us lore and achievements, he has our eternal gratitude.

And I got the Dungeoneering pet!

Five judges were involved in the selection of a winner. And they chose....

Congratulations!

Wait a second... -You may say- What are the RAWR Awards?? Check this link!

PS: Please remember no clannie is better than other just because they won a RAWR edition. You're already a winner if you made it to this thread, because it means you care about others and make our clan a better place every day. Congratulations to Wolffi, Romeo, Oza and Cam. See you next month!
