CLAN QUEST PEOPLE
An interview with Luke, the TotodilePanchamBearShark
By Choto Ends
Hello one and all, welcome to another month of Questaholic. With us today, we have Luke. Luke has been a long time world 66 resident,
who has decided to join the family recently. Known for his shark outfit, he's a big fan of all things Pokemon related, and has a fursona, Officer Luke.
Hey Luke! You're relatively new to the clan -- what d'you think so far?
I think the clan is great. Everyone's very social and I'm feeling right at home here. Not to mention everyone's very helpful at times. And funny of course. So yeah, good stuff.
What's the best thing you've ever drawn?
That's a good question. There's a few things I think turned out well, but if I had to pick an absolute best it's definitely the picture above.
Other favourite Pokemon?
Oh, definitely. As you might've guessed, Pancham's one of them. I also like various others such as Machoke, Marowak, Piplup, Treecko, Salamence, Greninja and the list goes on.
Fave summoning familiar?
Hmm, good one. I definitely like the Arctic Bear a lot because, well, bears. But I don't use it that much because I have no use for it these days.
I usually take a Pack Yak along while doing PvM, but yeah, I definitely like how the Arctic Bear looks. Probably a bit predictable, but yeah.
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
Well I've already been to Australia, which was an experience I'll never forget. Though if I had to pick another location I'd absolutely love to visit, it'd be Nevada. Specifically Las Vegas. I've always wanted to see those bright lights at night personally. Plus there's just a whole lot to do there from what I've heard.
Though I was tired on my way to Australia and back because I didn't sleep on the planes at all (can't sleep when uncomfortable between all these strangers), so I don't really know.
Please explain the whole "Officer Luke" concept?
It comes from my anthro bear character Lukas "Luke" Johnson. Luke's a bear who's a police officer, plain and simple.
Why are sharks so awesome?
That's a question I ask myself sometimes, what with me having a preference for bears. Is it their fearsome appearance? Their back fin? Their teeth? Well I dunno, they just are. It's not really easy to put into words. :p
I used to ask this question a lot back in the day, time to bring back an old tradition: IRL pic please?
I'm sorry, but no. I don't feel comfortable with sharing an IRL pic of myself with anyone, no exceptions. I really do value my privacy, y'see. It's not that I don't trust you lot, but better safe than sorry.
What's your favourite fictive creature outside of Pokémon?
Ooo, tough one. There's multiple creatures I like, such as Dry Bones from the Mario series, Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series, the Bokoblin enemies from Zelda, specifically the Breath of the Wild incarnation, etc.
If you were given the opportunity to change 1 thing in RS (anything goes, no exceptions), what would you change, why, and how would you change it?
Probably making minigame/thaler rewards available outside of minigames. You need heaps of Thaler or other points for minigame rewards and these days, minigames are just dead unless they're on spotlight, and even then some minigames are just ignored.
Fortunately Jagex seems to think the same way. For example, some Great Orb Project rewards are available through the Runespan store now.
What's your favourite thing about RS?
Probably the quests. Yes. Definitely the quests. I like myself games with a good story if I like the games.
If you could have any superpower for 24h but suffer its opposite for 24h after you lose the power, which superpower would you pick? (eg: invisibility - constantly being noticed, flying - crawling, mindreading - other people reading your mind, laser sight - blindness,...)
Probably a shapeshifting ability with the opposite being that I'm stuck as the thing I last turned into for 24 hours.
What is your earliest Runescape memory?
I can actually remember the first day I played somewhere in 2007. Some guy took me to the captured temple near the Goblin Village and told me to grab the wine there, which resulted in me being killed. Of course the scammer cut contact immediately.
Now look where I am. Maxed and all quests completed. I'm glad that first experience didn't turn me away from the game. :)
You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?
Probably Yanille or something. I'd love to see those wizards in the Wizards' Guild perform their magic spells and such. Though there's not much there, so perhaps Ardougne's a better option.
What do you think should be the next thing added to Runescape? Feel free to pick anything!
A bear outfit. Jagex, I want a bear outfit, darnit! ...I may be a tad too predictable. Yyyyyep.
You get 30 seconds of full attention from Jagex. What do you say?
Oh, I dunno. I'd probably tell Mod Osborne that he's very fabulous and such and that Shauny's a total genius because those things are true. But with so much able to be said in so little time, it's hard to decide what else.
Tell me your darkest secret that would make all pokémon run away in fear.
I tend to get itchy at the least convenient times in the least convenient spots.
What is your favourite colour?
My favourite colour is red.
What should I do or where should I visit if I come to the place where you live?
I'm not sure. It really depends on what your interests are. Sorry. D:
Where do you originate from?
I'm from the Netherlands.
What's your favourite food?
That's definitely macaroni. Though I really love Italian food in general because it's so good. :3
Do you have a pet/s? (would you want one if not)
I have a dog named Spike. He's a Kooiker, which is a breed uncommon outside of the Netherlands from what I've heard.
When did you start playing this glorious game?
I started playing in 2007 somewhere. Right now I'm still playing on the very same account even. ^^
What was your first skillcape?
My first skillcape was the Magic one as that was my first 99.
The mostleast Meh quest? (Yes, mostleast is a real word and I didn't come up with it)
I think Dealing with Scabaras was quite meh. It just didn't feel that interesting to me, like, at all. At least it wasn't too difficult once I figured out a trick to bruteforce that one puzzle.
Do you have a preferred beverage?
I like Coca-Cola. Best soft drink ever hands-down. :D
If you would made to listen to 1 song for 24 hours, which one would you choose?
Well recently I've been quite addicted to this song from Splatoon's OST called Ink Me Up. I dunno, something about it is just great. I'll leave a link here for anyone who's interested: Here
The 1 movie you have watched a bazillion times?
I'm not really a movie person.
I come on a vacation to your country, where would you take me?
Probably to the Efteling. It's, like, the biggest theme park in the Netherlands. :3
Can you write with your left hand? (vice versa if you are left handed)
I'm left handed, and no, I can't write with my right hand. Believe me; I tried.
Do you play any music instruments? If not what would you like to be able to play?
No I don't, though playing a guitar seems like it could be fun.
Do you read? Books/comics/papers etc. Name 1 book/comic/etc. you would suggest to read, or have fond memories of.
Not really, but I used to read a lot of Harry Potter books back in the day. These days, however, reading just really bores me.
Tell us a 23 word story!
I have no idea where to begin so please don't ask me to write a story while only able to use 23 words.
If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
I'm not sure. Really depends on your interests.
What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
In real life, Sydney's my favourite city so far.
In RS, I like Ardougne, Yanille and Prifddinas a lot.
Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
"I don't really have one as far as I know."
Which quest you believe to be the best?
That'd definitely be Gower Quest. I absolutely loved the humour in that quest. :D
Tell us the story behind your name!
Well, Luke's the name of my fursona Luke the bear. Totodile's my favourite Pokémon. ^^
How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
I speak two languages, namely English and Dutch. I'm perfectly fine knowing just these two. :)
If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
My Totodile plush probably, as a good luck charm.
Why bears? Why sharks?
Bears were my favourite animals since I was a kid. And sharks are also cool in my opinion.
Thank you Luke for the prompt replies, you answered me as fast as the questions were posted and I really appreciate you for it. For clannies who haven't been on for quite a while, don't forget to say hi when you see him around

Everchanging by Rise Against done by Blackbandwar. I remember when this was out last year and I was gushing about it in the clan chat. Still remember Rex saying this was "story of his life". This video, is hands down one of my top 3 of 2016. The storyline is beautiful beyond words, and touched my heart in many ways. Give it a watch, you will fall in love with the song.

The Last Elegy
A Clan Quest story
By Tyco Elf
The two adventurers flew backwards into the pillars at the other end of the room. The sound of cracking bricks didn’t reach their ears as they landed on them. They were unconscious before they hit the floor. The Master of Souls raised his spear and unleashed two deadly bolts against his opponents.
The sound of metal and wood shattering echoed across the room as the shieldmaidens of Clan Quest rushed to protect their comrades. As the remains rained around them, the group gathered around the two lifeless bodies. Sirapyro and Mskonnan gave each other a light fistbump. Sethron threw his bow and glove aside before checking their pulse.
-They only passed out, they are okay.
Cireon gave a sigh of relief and sheathed his twin rapiers for the moment. He glared past the raised shields at their opponent.
- Not if we don’t do something. I remembered him weaker.
Sethron adjusted the position of the injured to help them breathe more easily. His actions had said the words before he spoke them.
- But they need healing and we are out of food.
Cireon bit his lip. The injured had to be protected at all costs.
- Shield them, we will finish this.
Sethron freed his shield from his back and crawled, facing forward with the two adventurers behind him. Lord Earth freed his shield as well and gave Cireon a worried look.
Then Nomad, the Master of Souls, spoke to them.
-Weak. So weak. And you are supposed to be World Guardians? Pathetic!
He raised his spear and slammed it against the ground. Behind him, the Soul Generator increased in activity. The air around the room felt like it was at his command.
-For every that falls I become stronger. Survival of the fittest, that’s true balance.
The shieldmaidens looked behind them onto their leader. Cireon licked his lips. This situation had made his throat dry. He gave them an answer.
-We have to finish this. Now. Shield formation!
Nomad swung his spear in a wide arc before unleashing a grey sphere towards them.
-Your souls are mine!!
Lord Earth, Sirapyro and Mskonnan formed a triangle with their shields as they yelled. More metal and wood rained across the room as the adventurers were hit by the full force of Nomad’s wrath. From behind they could hear Sethron’s shield deflect scraps of metal flying at dangerous speed. A cloud of dust and smoke formed from the shockwave, whirling around and reducing the sight of both parties.
Then Lord Earth surged forward and emerged from the cloud. Before the Master of Souls had taken a stance, he drove his right foot down and left a hole in the ground as he barged Nomad with his full power, driving him across the room and almost into the wall. At the same time, Sirapyro and Mskonnan jumped into the air. Nomad was getting tired of it all.
Nomad regained his balance. He lifted his arms and swung his spear behind the shield from above, hitting the hide of the helm. The impact and echo inside made Lord Earth stumble and lower his shield as he tried to find his footing. But the Master of Souls didn’t give him the opportunity. He drove the end of the blunt end of the spear into the stomach of his opponent, who’s eyes went wide open before slowly stumbling into the ground.
A shadow went over Nomad. As he looked up the shields of the adventuresses slammed down from above. Nomad barely managed to block them both by meeting them head on with his spear held horizontally, but the force of the impact pushed him into the wall. He coughed as an uneven brick poked him from behind. The elderly adventuress continued her rush, shield raised high.
Nomad swung his spear in a vertical angle. Sparks flew from the tip as it made contact to the ground before reaching the shield from below. Too much for Mskonnan to handle, the shield flew off her hand into the air. Unable to protect herself, she screamed as Nomad followed up with a sidekick and made her fly into a pillar where bricks flew out of their positions..
Nomad stepped aside as the last adventurer came rushing, dodging the dagger in her hand. Surprised by the miss, Sirapyro stumbled forward. Nomad took this opportunity to end her charge with an elbow to the spine, pressing her against the ground. Sirapyro coughed as the air left her lungs. Then a voice came from above.
Nomad looked up and saw that the Head of the High Council had jumped into the roof and used it as a foothold to he dove like a falcon, twin rapiers pointing down towards him. Realizing the shields had blocked Cireon out of his sight, he took a stance and prepared to extend his spear. Nomad smiled. He would pierce his opponent before the rapiers would reach him. Just as Cireon came within range, Nomad took a step forward but stopped halfway as something pulled him back. He turned around. A fatal mistake. As he noticed the dagger that held his cape onto the wall, Cireon stabbed both rapiers through a surprised Nomad and nailed him to the wall.
Five seconds passed.
Behind him Cireon could hear Sethron having his longbow drawn, ready to fire at the slightest of movement from the Master of Souls.
Ten seconds passed.
The eyes of Nomad slowly rolled up and a faint breath could be heard from his mouth.
Fifteen seconds went.
Cireon gave his rapiers one extra push. Nomad didn’t react.
And as twenty seconds passed, the two remaining Clan Questers suddenly lost all energy they had and fell to the ground.

Going up and down
Watching who enters and presses your buttons
Interacting with you ever so briefly
See who leaves
"Maximum 10 people"
Afraid too many will enter at once
And leave just as quickly
Trying to hold on
To the only wire separating you from an endless fall
Air cushion boy
Waiting for the crash
Wrapping his arms around you
Softening your fall
Never going down again

"Hello, nice to meet you," is how you usually meet someone, but when my eyes met yours all I could think was... "Expecto patronum," as if I expected the temperature to drop and scared thoughts to rise.
You see, I have been afraid of love for so long, that when I met you forgive me for thinking it's too good to be true, but then you said "Hello, nice to meet you" and my defences fell as fast as my heartbeat rose.
Speaking of rose, did you know there are over 4.000 songs dedicated to roses? Anybody can Google that yet when I look up "Which words should I use?" my wifi drops out, leaving me stranded with a heart flipping through a dictionary at 200 words per second. I want to get this right, even if just to show you that I don't need a patronus charm when I'm with you.
You see, I have been afraid of love for so long, so if I run back to you and ask you to step inside my bigger-on-the-inside heart, realise that you're not just any visitor. When you step inside the maze of dark rooms, let me draw you up a chair under the only lightbulb, get yourself comfortable and try not to wonder why I only have 1 chair. Let me impress you. Let me show you where I've been before but please don't ask where I haven't. Ask me where I want to go but please don't feel sorry if I say "here".
You see, I have been afraid of love for so long, but with you... I say 'bring it'. I ventured into the dark and found a lightswitch so if it's okay with you... Stay. Let's light up this heart one switch at a time until one day I will no longer have to ask and you'll just... Stay... With me... In the chair next to yours...

Hey everyone! Another month, another bulletin. It is vacation time, but that doesn't mean you won't hear me giving you updates on what is going on both in front of and behind the scenes.
The Summer months (at least for our northern hemisphere members) are usually a weird mix of members being on vacation, and members coming back due to finally having some spare time on their hands to check in with their favourite cabbage lovers (actually... more on that later). This means that there is usually a bit of a quiet time around things happening in the clan, but July was still loaded with action!
After months of promising, I finally got out the survey last month. We got a whopping 41 responses on it, which has given us a lot of good data to work with. I want to thank everybody who spent some time sharing their thoughts on the clan, and I promise we'll make as much use of it as possible!
I am hoping to share most of the results with you in a couple of weeks, but first I want to give the different affected groups in the clan to get a chance to look at the data and see what they want to do with it: over the next couple of days, I'll be sharing results with the people to which it applies so they can think about how they're doing and what they want to approve. As High Council, we'll be supporting all those groups, and of course also take action on our own when there's no clearly responsible person. After that, I'll be sharing the results in more detail, and hopefully also give you a sneak peek in what we'll be doing as a result of them, so keep your eyes open for that.
We also had a whole bunch of people leave their name as being interested to help out with the clan, so I will be reaching out to you soon if you did. Keep your eyes on your offsite inbox
Nevertheless, I can share some of the highlights of the survey with you already! Two thirds of the clan actually likes cabbage, and about 8% is on the fence about it. Chocolate is only slightly more popular, with about three quarters of the responses saying chocolate is a good thing. For four out of five people, English is their first language, so sadly I have to put my plans to make Dutch to conferring language in Clan Quest on a hold for now*. It also seems we have an apache helicopter in disguise in our clan.
On to the more serious stuff then: people are generally really happy in our clan, and on most fronts we are doing a great job. It is clear that there is still some work to be done about telling people on how to participate, and people have mixed feelings about how well we're doing on organising events. Luckily we have got several volunteers to help us out on that, so together we're gonna come up with a plan! Discord adoption and satisfaction rates look great, and I am happy to see a recent addition already getting so much love. Talking about love, it seems you really like the new offsite and had some great idea moving forward, so look out for some updates in the near future.
All in all, it looks like we're on the right track, so thanks everybody for the kind words, and also the honest and constructive feedback. You'll be hearing more of us soon!
RAWR is not only the sound a lion makes, but also the name of a reward that has existed in Clan Quest for a long time: the Random Act of Win Reward. This award was historically given to people who just did something awesome. This could vary from being super helpful with quest help, to jumping in when one of our clan members is having a hard time in real life. The RAWR was gone for a while, but last month we brought it back.
Whenever you spot someone doing a Random Act of Win, you can nominate a member by posting it in the RAWR thread, or anonymously by sending a PM (offsite or Discord) to Choto. The exact format is still experimental, but every month the Clan Magazine will call out a selected Act of Win, and award the Random Act of Win Reward to the person performing it.
There is no prize attached to winning it, except for recognition of your awesomeness. This is our way of calling out the nice little things that make Clan Quest what it is that are sometimes hiding between the surface. Keep being nice, and one day maybe your name will appear in that spot.
Second account policy
Especially since the introduction of Ironman mode, the policy having second accounts being a member of the clan has never been entirely clear. This led to a lot of confusion, and we have decided to address this by making a change on how second accounts are added to the clan.
Previously they had to go through the same process as any new member, including getting a sponsor and being approved by the Guardians. Of course you could always sponsor with your primary account, as long as you are not currently sponsoring another person. The main reason behind this is that we can't be certain that the second account actually belongs to the same person, plus we wanted everybody to go through the same system to prevent having lots of exceptions making things confusing.
Thanks to MsKonnan, this is all no longer necessary. First, we have clearly defined the rules for everybody to see in this thread. Whenever you want to add a second account to the clan, you can just post a short application form in that thread and immediately get invited by a councillor. Hopefully this will make it a lot easier to enjoy the clan on whichever account you are playing.
And that's it for this month! Expect some cool Runefest updates from me and others over the upcoming weeks, and see you all in the next monthly bulletin!
* Yes, this is a joke.

Clan Quest RAWR Awards
Hoods, ladies and gentlemen, noobs in general. As you may have seen here, we have (re)started a RAWR system. Check the link to find out more.
I said that the Awards would start functioning this month, meaning that we would have our first winner next month. But I had already decided to start it now. I nominated someone and elected him as our first winner, because I'm some kind of dictator who mocks on democracy. So here it goes.
Some time ago, I started a (healthy) discussion with Low and High councillors. We talked about many aspects of the clan, but the main point was world domination and how could we stablish an authoritarian regime on our planet. In any case, I noticed that one of the clannies that have answered me seemed kind of pissed about what I was saying. A Discord chat followed with another person, just like this:
Me - I might be misinterpreting, but I think (mysterious person) didn't like what I posted
Other person - (mysterious person) is always like that. Nahhh he is ok with you. IMO it's just that he's emotionally invested in the clan and feels that if we question things he's not doing his job good enough
Me - Aaah, phew. Ye but thats what I don't want him to feel. Like that I'm undermining him or doubting his leadership
Other person - At the same time he wants to remind us we have the power to do whatever the hell we want, he has full trust in us
At this point you might have figured who the guy is. Anyways, I want to say that he has proven his value, and more than once. He is more than a position, he is a guide and a true leader of this clan full of noobs. He has shown us he can make important decisions and come up with great ideas. He's always been there when I had burning questions, and has treated me with kindness and respect even when our opinions differed. I've known him for a mere 2 years, but many of you have seen him around for much longer, and will see that I'm telling the truth and nothing but the truth.
But most important of all........He writes amazing bulletins.
Ladies and gentlemen, noobs in general, may I present you, to the first winner of the Clan Quest RAWR Awards (2.0), August 2017 edition:
Thanks everyone and keep an eye for those awesome things others do!
