TriangleArrow-Left.svgJanuary 2019 Issues of the Questaholic Magazine March 2019TriangleArrow-Right.svg

Hoods, everyone, and welcome once again to a new Questaholic issue. For various reasons, January has been a turbulent month, and five different positions became available. For the first (and probably the last) time in such a short period of time, every Council in the clan now has a new Head, adding up to five new people we can now relentlessly ping for help. You might already know some of them, but I'm sure there is at least one surprise for everyone this month, because I did say five new Heads, right? 56- icon scratch.png

Let's start with the oldest of guilds, the one where this Clan was originally founded and where this magazine is still heavily focused on. Yes, I'm talking about the RuneScape guild!

Wolffi, Head of the RuneScape Honor Council

-This will have to do dammit.
Wolffi, 30/01/2019

Woofs to all the guild members from your elected Head of Honour Council,

I've been around since 2011 and I hope everyone has come along my name at least once or twice in the chat by now. I'm a former member of the ETU and Razzers groups, and a current member of both the Guild and Honour Councils. I've been on RuneScape for the better part of 10 years now and a clear majority of that has been with this wonderful community, and I hope to find many more adventures with all of you in the years to come.

I aim to help the Guild Council in bringing a more tolerable environment in our channels and I hope that together with Cabege and Shiro Shana we will be able to push through some changes that I feel are much needed in our community. I want to rework some of our offsite forum aspect, encourage new members to participate in the community, clarify the rules we go by in the chat and most of all enforce a healthy environment where nobody has to feel left out or oppressed.

Karen Angel, Head of the RuneScape Guild Council
February 2019 003.jpg
-I'm the girl, not the dog.
Karen, at some point in 2019.

Hey Noobs! I’m Karen. I’ve been in Clan Quest since 2010 (I joined the offsite in January of 2011). I’ve been an officer with the Runescape Guild since January of 2012. I really love PvM and am the founder of the super famous Combat Marshals (yes we are a bunch of badasses)(Yes, we have donated over 350M to the guild in 2018 alone.)(Yes. If you challenge me to a duel, you will die.)(I won’t be sorry)(If you have a problem with me, we can take it outside)(goodluck)(jk)(not) I’m kind of a trouble maker, and I don’t try and hide it. I was recently elected as the new Head of Guild Council for the Runescape Guild, and I am super excited to see where our group will go in 2019. I love playing this game, and I look forward to having fun with all of you.

I’ve always felt that to achieve my goals, the best way is to focus on those around me and not myself. After all, we all want to ascend higher and achieve our dreams, but as long as we're just centered around ourselves, we’re stuck. In our life there are individuals and opportunities that allow us to be their blessing. How we treat those around us, can really change their lives, and ours. We do this when we bringing an old clanny or friend some word of encouragement, finding solutions for other people’s problems, or mentoring an inexperienced runescaper. When you serve others, your spirit is nourished. We don’t need to work our way to the top, we need to serve our way to the top. Thank you for allowing me to serve you guys, I am honored to have been chosen as the new Head of Guild Council.

And now, time for the second ever founded guild, Potatoskep Old School Clan Quest!

iiDefend, Head of the Old School Guild Council

Who Are You and Where Are You Headed?

Hello to all my fellow Old School Runescape members. The name’s iiDefend and I’m not one for public speaking. To be perfectly honest, I was trying to avoid the fact that I’d have to make a speech. In fact you should assume my hair is changing to grey as I’m writing this. My point is, sometimes you have to grow-up and do things you don’t want to do. And when that time comes it’s fantastic to have someone you can lean on for help, advice, even just an ear. I should consider myself blessed that I have been able to speak with many current/past Heads in the last few days. They are the reason I stood to become your Head of OSRS Guild Council.

I’ve been in the clan for just under 2 years at the time of writing this. Some members have expressed their concern for inexperience; Some think it’d be a fresh perspective. I agree with both statements. I’m learning who I am, I’m planning great things for Clan Quest, and I’m going to do what’s best for everyone.

It’s time for myself to take up the role of helper/advice-giver/ear-lender. Perhaps I can influence you into becoming the next Head of OSRS Guild Council. If you find yourself in a situation that is giving you grey hair, please don’t hesitate to come to me for help. That’s what I’m here for, and I prefer helping my fellow clanmates to writing speeches!

I can’t wait to show you who we are and where we’re headed.

Prinessi, Head of the Old School Honor Council
February 2019 006.jpg
-That physically hurt to take.
Prinessi, 23/01/2019

Shalom my fellow nerds.

I know I haven’t been in this clan for too long, and it feels like just a few days ago that I was a nominated and promoted to guild councilor, but here we are. I never thought I would be able to be one of the fellow big boys, but I guess now I’m the biggest boy, for Old School at least. It’s an absolute honor (no pun intended) to be a part of the Honor council. In reality, it’s an honor to be playing this game with all of you in general. What we have here in our little community is a beautiful thing, and I hope to never let it go.

I’ve came back to OSRS probably about a year ago. I have been a part of this clan for about half this time. I would still consider myself knew, but I know I can serve you well. It’s also why I chose Sugam and Draziw. They both have so much more experience in the clan and even in terms of game knowledge. But I promise to live up to whatever standards that everyone wants me to get up to.

I can’t wait to see where this clan takes us all, and I can’t wait to become something bigger than just a Runescape clan, but maybe the biggest.

If anyone ever needs anything, feel free to PM in discord, or in game (IGN:PRlNESSl).

Wait a second -you may say- those are four heads! Where is the last one?! Oh right, I mentioned a fifth...
All right, pawfians and hoodians, clannies in general, lemme present you to:

And this is all! Good luck to all our new leaders, I hope you accomplish every goal you set for you respective positions. And thank you for the speeches and pictures, I loved them!

Bulletin - February 2019

Changes
As many people have problem noticed, a lot of things have changed at the management level of Clan Quest and its Guilds over the last few months. For various reasons, all five elected leadership positions currently in the Clan have been resigned or reelected, in what is perhaps the most widespread shakeup in the Clan's history to date!

In the RuneScape Guild, both the Head of Honor Council and Guild Council resigned, and so new elections were held to fill those positions. Wolffi was publicly elected to the position of Head of Honor Council, while Karen Angel was internally elected as the Head of Guild Council.

Over in Old School Clan Quest, their Head of Guild Council resigned, but a new Honor Council election started because the Guild surpassed 50 members, and were obligated to hold a new election as per our Constitution. iiDefend was elected as the Head of Guild Council, and Prinessi the new Head of Honor Council.

But wait, that's only four positions? In one final shakeup, which is only now being announced, Cireon has resigned his position as the Head of Clan Council, a position which Sirapyro has been elected to. Congratulations to all of the new Clan and Guild leaders, we are certainly going into 2019 very differently than we came into it!

Contributing to the Editors
The Content Editors team is always looking for new people who want to help contribute, or even people who have fresh new ideas! What are the Content Editors? They are the group responsible for much of Clan Quest's creative endeavors, most notably the Questaholic Magazine. They also create content for our Wiki, contribute to the development of our website, collaborate on Guild-specific projects, and more.

Currently, the Questaholic would love a larger contribution from the Old School Clan Quest Guild! If you have any articles you'd like to write, be they about lore, the state of affairs in the game or Guild, or even just something creative, the Editors would love to talk! In addition, the Content Editors team is looking for people to act as photographers in Old School RuneScape, not only for the Questaholic but also so that our Wiki can be made less RuneScape 3-centric. If you have any screenshots of Old School RuneScape to contribute, or think you're good at taking new ones, the Editors would love to see them!

Family
As mentioned earlier, I, Sirapyro, was internally elected as the new Head of Clan Council. In the Constitution, the Head of Clan Council is partially described as our communicator with the Membership-at-Large. I shouldn't need some fancy title to say this, but I feel like now is a good time to talk about this. January has been a little bit of a turbulent month for a lot of people, it's easy to forget that at the end of the day we, Clan Quest, are a family.

Sometimes families fight, sometimes they don't get along, but we stick together. We're there for each other. Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of the fact that all of our interactions are in games, that we all just want to have fun, and that we've all been brought together by a common interest, and that we all want our community to thrive. I think whatever differences we may have with each other, no matter where we are in the Clan, it's important that we all do our best to give each other the benefit of the doubt, that everyone wants the best for all of us.

2019 is a new year, a lot of things have changed in our community this month alone, but we grow from it together. So I urge everyone to work together to keep this family we've all built going strong, because there's none better!

QUESTAHOLIC PRESENTS

The long-awaited interview with Seb!

By Choto.

<::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::}]xxxx()o

February 2019 009.png
Seb is holding a white creme egg, which there are only 700 of.

GENERAL

What's your favourite sport?
To watch? Football, my team is Leicester City. To play? Anything really. I have never been skiing/snowboarding, which is something I want to do at some point.

Which are your favourite childhood cartoons?
That's far too long ago to remember. The Simpsons maybe? I remember as a young child, watching an episode of Rugrats where they got visited by their British relatives, and that confused the hell out of me for years until I learnt about the concept of countries.

If you could have any super power other than invincibility, what would you choose and why?
In the TV show Heroes, there was a guy who could control space and time, which is certainly not overpowered, so probably that.

What are your favourite outdoor activities?
Going indoors.
February 2019 016.jpg

Which is your favourite movie?
I don't watch many films, but I thoroughly enjoyed Inception

What sort of music and artists do you listen to?
I almost exclusively listen to metal. My current favourite band is probably Slugdge, with longtime favourites such as Anaal Nathrakh, Black Dahlia Murder, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Haken, In Mourning, Intervals, Karnivool, Leprous, Ne Obliviscaris, Persefone, Soen, Tool, Vektor etc. to name a few.

Which books would you recommend?
The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It's quite a difficult read, but definitely worth it
February 2019 017.jpg

What's your favourite type of food?
Anything Italian; pizza, pasta, lasagne etc. Chocolate, sweets, and other sugary things are my vice. Is green tea a food?

Do you prefer mom's food or restaurant food?
Mum's. VAT has priced most Brits out of eating restaurant food, including me.

GAMING

Which are your favourite games?
EU4 and MBU (Marble Blast Ultra) are the two games I have played the most aside from RS. I was 9th in the world at MBU and waited 12 years for a sequel, and the devs recently made a spiritual successor called Marble It Up, so that's probably my favourite at the moment. There were a few years when I played games like Halo 3, COD 4, Oblivion, Burnout Paradise etc, and it was an amazing time in gaming, and I've been unable to recreate that experience with any game since. I have such fond memories of having sleepovers with my friends, where we would bring 3 or 4 xboxs and play multiplayer all night.

What are your favourite video game genres?
I hate myself for saying it, but I enjoy pretty much any genre of video games.

Which was the most difficult video game you ever beat?
I had a few thousand hours in EU4 before I was able to conquer the entire world.

What's the toughest thing you've ever accomplished in a video game?
There was an achievement in Trials HD called 'Marathon', where you had to complete 26 tracks in a row without any failures. It was so difficult that after I completed it, random people on Xbox live would message me about it. Also, the vidmaster challenges in Halo, and Mile High Club in Call of Duty 4 were both pretty difficult.
February 2019 018.jpg

When playing with friends, do you prefer video games or tabletop games, and why do you prefer one over the other?
Video games. I think that there's more pressure to make your own fun when playing board games.

RUNESCAPE

What's your favourite skill?
Divination. AFK money making.

What's your favourite quest?
Underground Pass is the first one to spring to mind. I did it 10+ years ago, when RS was a completely different game, and I was a total noob (unlike now). I remember the excitement of traversing the high-level dungeon for hours and finally reaching the elven lands. It was epic.

When did you start playing?
2006. I had just started secondary school, and the one kid I knew at my new school was telling me about Runescape. Another kid in my class overheard us and joined in in telling me about it, and that's how I made my first new friend at that school. It was sold to me as 'you go around killing people, but if you want to play it you have to ask your parents first'. Pretty misleading, but it didn't matter in the end.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
Either QPC at combat level 105, or untrimmed DG cape, around the same time.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
More co-op quests. Or at least make them not instanced. Also, good job.

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?
I've always wanted to go for a swim in the living rock caverns. The water just looks so inviting.
February 2019 019.png

GENERAL PART 2

What are your biggest dreams in life?
To reach a normal level of anxiety, alongside the usual things, like having a big house and a family and a fun job etc. Being a musician would be nice, but it's too late for that.

If you could have any 3 animals in the world (only real animals, no fictional), which would you pick?
A rhino, before they are poached to extinction. A large doggo, or maybe a sea doggo (seal). Some type of big cat.

If you had to give up one of your senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste) which one would you pick?
Smell is the obvious choice.

How would you describe yourself to others?
Insufferable.
February 2019 020.jpg

What is your most used item in your daily life?
I have a bathrobe thing that I've been wearing at home almost non-stop for over a decade. It's still going strong, and is probably the best purchase I have ever made.

Best thing about your trip to London?
Well, I've been in London for 8 months now, so it's been a very long trip. Meeting up with you guys for pool and Nando's has been one of the highlights so far.

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
My advice to anyone visiting England, is that it's completely different outside of London. London is a decent place to see, but it's such a global city, and shouldn't really count as visiting England. Secondly, England has amazing countryside and villages, try and avoid sticking to cities.

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
My favourite place that I've been to is probably Tuscany. I love traditional architecture, especially in Europe. In RS, the arc is probably the nicest location, although I think Lunar Isle is quite comfy.

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
Out of sight, out of mind. I keep my environment very clean and tidy, as it's less stressful for me to look at.

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?
My biggest regret in life is that I never learnt to play an instrument. I would choose piano, guitar, violin, drums, triangle, everything really.

Tell us the story behind your name!
Seb... and cabbage...

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
I've been attempting to force French into my unreceptive monolingual noggin every day since last summer.

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
My itunes library. That would not be fun to rebuild.

Who is the one clannie you really miss?
Too many to choose from. Zilarla, Nicole angel, Dirty rain, artie, s2q, wolfie, infinity, sarah, liz, Chpy, alaska, perforo, noble, coop, loud, anamona, kyratian, viper, spoonie, zack, boba1 and boba2, zaros1 and zaros2, whig, sinistral, lebyh, drakan, mell, captainmeta4, blarmy, kyno, sillycat, plunder, dawnoffrost, jaxon, jungle VIP, and tuor to name a few.

What's your first memory of the clan?
I joined when Salt in the Wound was released, so my earliest memory is doing that quest with the clan, and joking about the pillar ending, although I didn't really know anyone back then. I remember someone roleplaying as Earth's grandmother, I remember Mr Zaros getting accepted into the clan, I remember Cireon joining shortly after me and secretly rivaling him trying to get an invite first, I remember getting kicked by Zumaquests, I remember Ragnhild's random events. I have a bunch of good memories, but those are probably the earliest.
February 2019 021.gif

Coffee or tea?
Coffee and tea both taste great and have many varieties to choose from, however, one is good for you and one is very bad for you. One is cheap and easy to make, one is a massive scam. One is classy and prestigious, the other is for millennial hipsters. Also, I'm British, so drinking tea is in my nature.

Which is the most interesting God? Why?
Don't know. I think I'd prefer them to be confined to lore, rather than being actual characters that you talk to in-game.

Best thing of Clan Quest?
Me.

THE ALEX 43 SECTION BECAUSE WHY NOT

Did you find it yet?
No.

Where was it?
I don't know, I haven't found it yet.

Are you going to take good care of it this time?
I will take very good care of it once I have found it, (which I haven't).

Do you have a new place for it?
No, I've always had a place for it.

Is this place safe?
Fairly safe.

Would it last a long time if it stayed there forgotten?
I doubt it, but I really hope so.

Do you need help?
Yes, but I don't want it.

Is this a good idea?
Absolutely not.

Can you say that with confidence?
Yes.

Is this how it's going to be?
Seems like it.

BACK TO CHOTO

I’m afraid to ask but...where’s the can?
When I last saw the can, it was as I dropped it in a bin in the park.

Did you eat it?
I would have tried it, but luckily we couldn't get it open far enough.

Why?
Some things smell worse than they taste.
February 2019 022.jpg

It was bad, wasn't it?
The stench was bad, but the potency was unbelievable. I could smell it from twenty metres away

I remember you used to play Europa Universalis IV. Do you still play?
I haven't played recently. Finding a spare 50 hours to play a campaign isn't as easy as it used to be, and Marble It Up has been devouring my free time.

What’s your favourite historical moment?
What an insane question to try and answer. A lot of moments have happened over the entire course of the Earth's history. It's like being asked 'What is your favourite thing that exists?'. If we narrow it down to EU4's time period then I guess the French revolution was pretty interesting.
February 2019 023.jpg

Are you a tyrant or you play nice?
I'm not a tyrant. Anyone who says otherwise will be placed on a spike.

What is the meaning of life?
*insert witty answer here*

I remember asking you for an interview a long time ago. I'm really glad you finally agreed to this. Thank you, Seb, I loved your interview!

In February 2010...
The first ever revisions to the Clan Constitution were made on the 7th, and then the Constitution itself was ratified at a public Council on the 12th of the same month. Kappathegrey also took over as the second ever "Head of High Council" during this month.

In February 2011...
NeNe Mom was elected to be the second ever Head of Honor Council, following Hemsky's activity-related retirement. She finally announced on the 9th that Roting Mortal and Auridan would be her Honor Council assistants.

On the 5th of the month, clanquest.org was officially launched, and Clan Quest permanently migrated away from the old clanquest.darkbb site. "clanquest.org" is still in use to this day, and hosts this magazine!

In February 2014...
During this month the Clan's recruitment system was overhauled, which saw the removal of both the Guardians and the sponsorship system. Likewise, ranks were adjusted to remove the influence of fealty at the Clan Citadel, and instead focused on Quest Point progression. These changes coincided with the release of the eighth recruitment thread on the 2nd of the month. The month continued to be eventful as two members of the High Council(now Clan Council) resigned - Bigg Doggg and Anamona. Likewise, CatFud resigned from the Honor Council and was replaced by Gardenchick.

In February 2016...
LizBeth retired from the High Council on the 26th of the month, marking the last time as of this article's writing that anyone has resigned from that group.

In February 2018...
The official Clan Quest wiki was more formally integrated into the website with the inclusion of the design theme present on the forums. This marked the beginning of major content creation for the Wiki, including the migration of the Questaholic Magazine to it. All of this began on the 12th of the month.

What's the toughest thing you've ever accomplished in a video game?
Either finishing Torquing without dying, or making THIS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgrT93xHDE4) video for Torquing.

When playing with friends, do you prefer video games or tabletop games, and why do you prefer one over the other?
Video games, because I prefer co-op.

RUNESCAPE

What's your favourite skill?
Dungeoneering: I got to 120 by playing almost exclusively solo and I rarely got bored of it. Of course, Dungeoneering doesn't really count because it's a minigame, so now it's Farming. The Player-Owned Farm has made it really enjoyable for me.

What's your favourite quest?
While Guthix Sleeps. Nothing comes even close to it, in my opinion.
February 2019 027.jpg

When did you start playing?
Late 2014, after the halloween event but before the christmas event.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
Quest cape, sometime in 2007 I believe. If you're talking about skills capes only, Fletching, which I got about a year later.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
"Rushing EOC was a mistake", over and over again, till the 30 seconds are up.

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?
Prifddinas. Assuming I don't have to go through the Underground Pass to reach it.

GENERAL PART 2

What are your biggest dreams in life?
Frankly, no idea. I guess finding a job that I like and that pays well, and living together with my girlfriend.

If you could have any 3 animals in the world (only real animals, no fictional), which would you pick?
2 cockatiels and my cat. Cat's too lazy to hunt the birds anyway.

If you had to give up one of your senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste) which one would you pick?
I'm going to say taste. While I do enjoy eating yummy food, losing taste wouldn't impact social interactions as much as the other senses, IMO.

How would you describe yourself to others?
Shy, stubborn, lazy. Likes math.

What is your most used item in your daily life?
Blue pen. My hands are rarely without ink stains.

Will you go to RuneFest this year?
I might, but it heavily depends on the date. I work full time and do quite a bit of work outside my hours as well, so I don't have much time to spare.

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
Try Brussels waffles with chocholate sauce. Then go on a road trip visiting Bruges, Ghent, Brussels and Ypres, trying local beers in every single one of them. Also get your hands on a Trappist beer if you get the chance.
February 2019 028.jpg

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
IRL: Prague and Leuven. In RS: Prifddinas and Zanaris.

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
Nope. Unless mathematical equations count, but I'll spare you from those.

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?
Sadly not. I'd love to learn piano and/or violin someday, though.

Tell us the story behind your name!
So, me and some friends decided to put our names in an "anagram solver". For me, "Tasty Romeo", "Steamy Root" and "Meaty Torso" came out, though the first one stuck as a nickname. At least it's better than "I'm cheap ugliness", which one of my friends got.

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
Four: Dutch, English, French and German, though the latter two are quite rusty. I can also read Latin, but not speak. I'd love to learn Finnish one day, it just sounds great. Perkele!

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
A flash drive with a copy of my thesis-in-progress on it.

Who is the one clannie you really miss?
I haven't been in the clan for very long, and the clannies I know well still play.

What's your first memory of the clan?
Tyco's rather aggressive attempts at recruiting everyone in the CC to join the clan ;).

Coffee or tea?
There's a saying that goes "A mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems". I agree with it.

Which is the most interesting God? Why?
I'm going to say Zaros. I feel like he's genuinely trying to do the right thing since "returning", but his past actions are still in everyone's memories. And that's not going to make them trust or help you easily, especially if your plan to save the world is "become an elder god".
February 2019 029.jpg

Best thing of Clan Quest?
The Hide & Seeks that are organised every now and then.

THE ALEX 43 SECTION BECAUSE WHY NOT

Did you find it yet?
No :(

Where was it?
If I knew, then I'd have found it.

Are you going to take good care of it this time?
If I find it, I will.

Do you have a new place for it?
I'll think of a good place once I find it.

Is this place safe?
No.

Would it last a long time if it stayed there forgotten?
Probably not.

Do you need help?
Not with this thing

Is this a good idea?
I think YOU need help.

Can you say that with confidence?
Yes.

Is this how it's going to be?
Oh yes.

BACK TO CHOTO

What's your shapeshifter killcount?
654.

It's that how long it took you for wedding ring? Damn
That's exactly how long it took for the wedding ring, since I cancelled my task and blocked them the second I got the ring.

How was KBD? Did you enjoy killing it 2 thousand times?
My killcount is actually around 750. I got the Last Riders drop at about 250 kills, but I'm lazy and KBD is probably the fastest/easiest reaper task out there. Hence the 500 extra kills.

Will a regular Juliet do or do you need a tasty one?
Must be at least as tasty as myself.
February 2019 030.jpg

What do you taste of?
Chalk. And tasty things.

What is the meaning of life?
42 minus the universe and everything.

Wew, that's all! TIt's been enlightening to interview another crazy mathematician. Thank you for taking your time for this interview, Romeo!

Welcome back, noobs! This month we’ve had four nominations: Questcaping, Cabege, Tyco and a collective nomination for Santa, Tyco and Choto.

Apparently it's too late to nominate for December, but I want to shout out Questcaping for taking me to Barbarian Assault for my first time during minigame weekend. She was a big help in organizing a team and was very patient in handling our team's noobiness. Thanks to her help, I managed to get to wave 10 and kill the Penance Queen! I had a great time and I look forward to playing more Barbarian Assault in the future.

Nominating Cabege. Absolute savage giving me a tuska mask piece that I needed towards Comp. I've been asking around and using my Airut mask to force tasks as soon as possible. Kind, Encouraging, And just "There" when I merely asked for it.

Edit: Finished that mask, so the dozens of clannies offering support can stop worrying. XD
People are awesome.

I'd like to nominate Tyco Elf.

He is nice to me when I need it and I appreciate that. 1- icon biggrin.png

I'd like to nominate Choto, Santa and Tyco for all the hard work they've put in over the years. Let this be a testament to it.

This nomination was seconded by Questcaping, Shiro and Katatonic

The judges chose:

Congratulations, and congratulations to all the other nominees as well!

Wait a second... -You may say- What are the RAWR Awards??
Check this link!

PS: Please remember no clannie is better than other just because they won a RAWR edition. You're already a winner if you made it to this thread, because it means you care about others and make our clan a better place every day. Congratulations to Cabege, Tyco, Choto, and Santa!

The Last Elegy

A Clan Quest story

August 2018 006.jpg

Chapter 9

Kitty picked up a bone from the floor and started to chew on it. The crushing echoed throughout the room, leaving the elf and the man uncomfortable where they silently stood and waited. The beast spat and let a bone fragment fly away into the darkness where it would never be seen again. It then spoke.
- I see you have gained Shane’s trust, wearing our symbol around your neck. Now tell me, what is your purpose?
This was it. He had the beast’s attention, now he only had to come to the point where he could ask for a way to find Cireon, whatever methods it now had in its possession. The question was another story, he wasn’t sure what to respond. To his delight Shane answered for him.
- He wishes to witness your trophies and, with your permission, witness a fraction of the power you have at your disposal.
“Good job Shane.” is what the elf would tell him later. Shane gave Tyco a look that seemed to say “Do you remember?” to him. Remember….remember what?
- Does he? Very well, I shall let him have the honor of witnessing our glory.
Kitty moved away from the fireplace and let its light spread across the room. The switch in brightness made the elf cover his eyes for a moment until his eyes adjusted. And then he saw it.

Spines! Everywhere! In jars! Long rows of shelves stretching far and wide across the room containing spines in jars, preserved in a green substance. Tyco span around and realized there had to be over two hundred. His necklace swung from his movement and the elf realized what Shane had given him. It was a section of a spine with a string attached. He wanted nothing but to throw it away, to throw it into the fire and never see it again. But he trusted Shane and knew Kitty probably wouldn’t like that.
He realized he had gone silent since the reveal and that his mouth was half open. He closed it and turned towards the pair of eyes that was waiting for an answer.
- Words cannot describe your marvelous collection. The art, the importance, the...
BAM!

Kitty had smashed his right paw into the ground and the shockwave silenced the elf.
- Words cannot describe you say?
Tyco saw the anger in Kitty’s eyes. He broke the contact and looked down, but then felt the tip of a claw against his chin forcing him to look up.
- You stand before my collection and NO WORDS come to your mind?!
The claw continued to press his chin until he starred up into the roof. He began to stand on his toes to stop the tip from digging into his skin, but Kitty simply raised his claw further.
- You will tell me exactly what you think.
He only had two choices, either he lied or he would say the truth. It was now or nothing.
- I was afraid.
The claw stopped. Not a moment too soon as a drop of blood fell on the floor.
- As I saw it all, I could hear it. The screams. The crying of pain as they were obtained. And then I saw it.
Kitty lowered the claw slightly and put his ear next to the elf’s lips. If this had been a more enjoyable occasion he would have told the beast to remove the earwax once in a while.
- A beast. Red by blood, triumphant by victory, unbeaten by others. And that this is not art or a collection. This is the life of a conqueror.

Kitty retracted his claw and licked his paw for the little blood that it had. He then smiled.
- Very well. Your words have pleased me. I will listen to your request.
Tyco was on his knees and stroked the area where Kitty’s claw had been a moment ago. He looked looked up as he heard about the request.
- I...I don’t think I mentioned a request.
- Nobody goes to the dark side and offers their services for nothing. There’s no such thing as a free meal, only hidden costs. But for loyal followers I will remove whatever torments them.
In his mind Tyco smiled. Finally some progress. And the sooner he got what he wanted the sooner he could get out of here.
- There is a man that I seek. A man hidden away, not leaving a single step to track. I wish to find him at any cost.
- To end his life perhaps? If you give me the pleasure of ripping his interior out then I wouldn’t mind following on your journey.
- That’s...personal business.
Kitty’s smile disappeared. He looked suspiciously at the elf.
- We all have our secrets, but Pawfia will know them all in due time.
Kitty stretched his paw towards a shelf and picked up a black object. Upon placing it on the floor, Tyco saw it was shaped as a head of a lapuria, roaring with all its might. Kitty pointed inside of the lapuria’s mouth. Ancient runes were edged around the base of the head, which the elf translated to “The tongue of Pawfia”.
- Put an item of great importance to the person you are looking for in here and you will find what you seek. A cut-off ear or a momento, both work alike.
Tyco ran a victory lap in his mind and let out a sigh of relief. That was his first mistake. The beast’s eyes narrowed upon seeing the elf’s reaction and he leaned closer.
- My lord?
Shane spoke for the fourth time since he had entered the room. Kitty took a big sniff before suddenly snatching the necklace Tyco was wearing with the tip of his claw. Seeing the sharp object pass by his neck made Tyco take a step backwards. Kitty took a second sniff and studied the necklace before crushing it.
- Fake…...
Tyco felt how the blood disappeared from his head. Beside him he heard Shane swallow and guessed that the same had happened to him. Kitty turned towards the two guests, his eyes filled with rage and fire.
- You…...
Tyco took another step back. That was his second and last mistake.
- YOU DARE TO BETRAY ME!!!
Now or never.
Tyco rolled forward as a paw swiped where his head had been half a second ago. He grabbed the lapuria beneath the beast just as the second paw hit him. The elf flew in a blink of an eye into the darkness where the light of the fireplace would never reach.

Cireon here, back with another book recommendation for all of you. A fair word of warning: I read almost exclusively fantasy and science fiction, so while I will try and mix things up as much as I can, the reviews will be skewed towards those genres. After some science fiction last month, it is time to look at some fantasy!

What better fantasy book to recommend than The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Many fantasy readers will happily proclaim Rothfuss as the best fantasy out there, and with good reason. The name of the Wind is the first book from the Kingkiller Chronicles. The second book is called The Wise Man's Fear, and the third book still hasn't been released yet.

The Name of the Wind follows the story of Kvothe, as told to Kvothe himself to a scribe. The story itself definitely touches upon interesting theme and will put you on the edge of your seat, but it is the writing that really pulled me through. The book starts by describing the atmosphere in an almost poetic one. Not often do you find a book that pulls you in right in the first chapter, let alone the first paragraph.

The Name of the Wind tells a story of ambition, injustice, and friendship. It does so in a stunningly good way. If you can deal with the fact that you will be sucked into an amazing universe, but there isn't a concluding book to top off the series, this book is a must-read for all fantasy enthusiasts.
