QUESTAHOLIC PRESENTS

An interview with Dustea

By a maxed bronze man wearing the DG cape.

<::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::}]xxxx()o

December 2017 002.jpg

OFFICER LUKE:

Where would you like to travel one day?

I would really love to travel to Germany someday. At work I collaborate with a lot of German people and hopefully I'll get the opportunity sooner than later!

December 2017 003.png

What's your favourite food?

Watermelon!

What's your favourite colour?

I would probably say dark red. Slayer cape was always one of my favorites!

Coffee or tea?

Definitely tea! Preferrably peppermint or earl grey.

December 2017 004.png

If I was suddenly lying unconscious on your doorstep, what would you do?

I sometimes am too hospitable for my own good. Definitely do everything I can to make sure you are okay lol.

Do you like dusty rooms?

Despite the name... preferrably not. 2- icon smile.gif

December 2017 005.png

PTV Suli:

What do you like most about this game?

I would without a doubt say bossing. I enjoy the challenge of it and I am always looking to improve. Favorites are Rax, Telos, and Raids!

Tell us your ideal relaxing moment i.e. sipping hot chocolate by the window reading a book on a snowy day

Runescape is definitely one of my decompressors. So ideally I'd love to be playing rs while watching and listening to rain outside.

December 2017 006.png

What's your favorite skill?

Well, it definitely used to be slayer before I grinded too hard lol. I'd say tied for dungeoneering and slayer.

December 2017 007.png

Do you have any pets?

I do not have any pets but I am definitely a dog person!

December 2017 008.png

Tyco Elf:

What is your earliest Runescape memory?

It would definitely be the very first time that I played runescape. I remember very well playing way too long my first time (and also spent way too long on tutorial island lol).

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?

I really enjoy snow, so probably travel around the snowy areas to the west of the wilderness or Priffddinas!

You get 30 seconds of full attention from Jagex. What do you say?

"I could have been $1,000 richer without this game!"

December 2017 009.png

How would you describe yourself in-game? Wealthy, spontaneous, bloodthirsty?

I would say dedicated. I've always set somewhat unrealistic goals for myself and almost always followed through. The next goal is the Warden!

December 2017 010.png

Tell me your darkest secret that would make the bosses beg you to accept their rarest drops for mercy!

Not much of a secret if you knew me from way back in old 66, but I used to be a level 3 skiller for almost 6 years on this account! I'm making up for lost time now! Bosses, watch out. :P

Miss Alaska:

What's your opinion of space?

I really love space! If I didn't choose engineering I definitely would have considered astrophysics or a similar field!

December 2017 011.png

Is there a piece of music you've been listening to a lot recently?

I don't think there is anything in particular. I listen to a lot of pop music for sure but nothing specific! Pretty much anything that sounds dancy. 1- icon biggrin.png

What was your favourite TV show / book / movie (or all three) when you were a kid?

I was (and still am) a big Star Wars nerd, so I would say all those movies! :)

December 2017 012.png

Can you name a person or some people you admire most in the world?

I would definitely say my step dad since he has been the most influential person to me on what it's like to work hard and he has helped me get to where I am now.

Can you tell us about one item on your desk?

I don't have anything necessarily exciting on my desk, but I guess I can confess despite my passion for bossing, I have a very basic mouse. :P Maybe I'll get a gaming mouse someday! Lol.

December 2017 013.png

Katatonic:

Do you have a favorite outfit (bossing or skilling)?

I absolutely love my bossing armors! Mainly my full malevolent.

Cat, Dog ....or Pigeon?

Dogs for sure!

December 2017 014.png

Do you believe in alien invasion theory :alien: (btw this is a joke question)?

Hmmmmm.... probably not!

Do you think in a black and white way or do you see varied shades of grey/color?

Nothing ever quite seems black and white to me, so perhaps grey! But I can see both ways. :P

December 2017 015.png

Iskh:

Whats the strangest co-incidence you have experienced in game or irl?

It happens way too often but I always find it coincidental when I run into old friends while world hopping for dailies lol. Nothing too crazy!

Do you pay any regard to Astrology and if you do what is your star sign?

I do not pay any regards to Astrology, sorry! I'm not really sure. :P

December 2017 016.png

Divjarrat:

If you had power to kill one of the (well known) gods in RS, which would you kill?

Probably Brassica Prime because I never liked cabbage. 1- icon biggrin.png

Santa: >:o

What's the best thing in Clan Quest?

I would definitely say the community. I'm a very social person and I really like to see all the activity in the clan.

You have to choose an rs god to support. Which one and why?

Zaros! Not sure why, I just always thought he was awesome.

December 2017 017.png

You have to choose one rs god to bring into real world to rule/guide us. Which one will you choose, why?

Definitely Guthix; this world needs a little more balance lol.

December 2017 018.png

Who is your favourite mahjarrat, why?

I would probably say Lucien, just because While Guthix Sleeps was probably my favorite storyline. :P

Choto3000 (noob):

So many questions! Let's get started!

When did you start playing?

I started playing rs when I was around 11 years old. 23 now lol. Time flies!

December 2017 019.png

What was your very first accomplishment cape?

My very first accomplishment cape was 99 mining in 2007! I was so proud of that. I was one of the first 10 level 3s to get 99 mining. :)

December 2017 020.png

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?

Well, I'm in the USA near Chicago, so I am biased but definitely need to try authentic deep dish Chicago pizza!

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?

I really really enjoy snowy places in RS, but I also really love Priffddinas! In real life I really love Wisconsin since I was born there.

December 2017 021.png

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?

I have a generally optimistic attitude so I always catch myself saying, "It's going to be a great day!"

Which quest you believe to be the best?

While Guthix Sleeps was my favorite quest without question. :P

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?

I never grew up playing an instrument but I would love to play piano.

December 2017 022.png

Tell us the story behind your name!

I hope this doesn't speak poorly to my creativity but...

There used to be a lot of "Lord ------"s in old school world 66 who were level 3 skillers. I also had a friend named "Dustea". So I simply combined them! Since I was going to be a level 3 skiller I decided for Lord Dustea. All with permission, of course!

December 2017 023.png

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?

I speak primarily English. I am actively trying to learn German, however! And looking for anybody to practice with, as well. :) Send me a PM if so! I would ultimately like to learn German, Spanish, and French. :P

If you had to escape your country inmediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?

My insulated water bottle! I never leave anywhere without it. :P Gotta stay hydrated at all times!

December 2017 024.png

Why makes you a great noob? Apart from forgetting your cq password once a week year?

Hahahah. Yes, this happens all too often... :P I think being a great noob requires humility. Never pretending to be better than anybody else and being always willing to learn.

Best boss for loot?

I absolutely love Araxxor. That definitely provides consistent loot for me!

December 2017 025.png

Best film ever?

I absolutely love Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise. Definietly one of my favorites. Otherwise, any Marvel movies. :)

December 2017 026.png

Best book ever?

I unfortunately do not read many books, but if I did I'd probably read non-fiction books to learn something from lol.

Bonus Question!

Something about me I'd like people to know:

Helping people is without a doubt one of my favorite things to do. I've been pretty busy IRL lately, but I always make time to help. My chat is always on, so if anybody needs help on anything, let me know! I especially love to teach people how to boss. 2- icon smile.gif

An interview with Nex

By Santa 3000 and Choto Ends

December 2017 027.jpg

CIREON

What place in Gielinor would you like to visit?
Definitely Prifddinas, it's just so gorgeous and ethereal, and the elves are definitely a plus. After that, The Lost Grave, and the TzHaar City.

December 2017 028.png

What real-life location would you like to see in Gielinor?
I think it would be interesting to see how Jeju-do (an island in South Korea) would rendered in Gielinor; breathtaking views, cliffs, the beach, beautiful white sand and most importantly: horses!

December 2017 029.jpg

How would the quest designed by you be named?
Damn, that's a tough one...perhaps something like Children of Jas.

How did you get into contact with RS? Is it popular where you live?
I first started playing because I stumbled across an ad for it online, and played pretty much only the tutorial island, and some f2p stuff in Varrock, but I distinctly recall that the quests always appealed to me the most. We had dedicated Indian servers for RS a few years ago, but those shut down, and it's not particularly popular here anymore, sadly.

ROW

If I managed to completely forget to ask you something like I usually do for these, what would you say or do?
I would probably understand; I haven't asked anything in one of these interviews so far myself. ^^
[Editor’s note: Smh]

What is your favourite colour to wear and is that different from your favourite colour and why?
I like wearing simple clothes with little to no designs or patterns on them, mainly black and white. My favourite colours are black and red, though I usually don't wear much red (too loud).

Why aren't you wearing that colour right now, then?
See above

MSK

Do you like doing quizzes? What is you answer to this picture/math one
[Editor’s note: Image disappeared :c]

I do like brain teasers and quizzes, though I hate maths, heh. I remember solving the puzzle in my head when I first saw it, but alas, it says it's no longer available. It was something like 19 or thereabouts, iirc.

KATATONIC

If you were to meet an would you try to chat or run like heck?
Definitely try to chat; I love learning foreign languages and different forms of communication, and would definitely be down for an Arrival like scenario.
[Editor’s note: Wow, I answered something like that in my interview :O]

Are you a black and white thinker or appreciate different peoples opinions?
I can be pretty black and white on certain moral issues (e.g. should there be a death penalty for heinous crimes etc.), but I generally do try to listen to and appreciate everyone's views.

December 2017 030.jpg

Do you have a favourite skill or what do you spend most time doing on RS?
I don't have a favourite skill per se, but my favourite thing to do on RS is definitely questing! After that, I guess it's the Clan Quest cc, heh.

Are you excited about and his coming in December?
Well, Christmas isn't really a big deal here, but sure, who doesn't love a little festive spirit!

December 2017 031.jpg

TYCO

How many languages do you currently know, are learning and want to learn?
I am a native speaker of Hindi and English, and am fairly fluent in Korean. I am learning Japanese, Spanish and Mandarin, and want to improve my French (only learned a little in middle school). I want to learn a lot more in the future, mainly Russian, Italian, German and Arabic.

What item do you think affects your daily life the most?
Definitely my mobile phone; the days I had to live without it (when it was stolen a few months ago) were hell.

What is your earliest Runescape memory?
Making new accounts to do the original Tutorial Island over and over again; I really loved the feel of it. Other than that, the first time I died in RS (I tried to kill Elvarg without adequate gear, hah)

December 2017 032.png

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?
Definitely Priffdinas!

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
Oh boy, this is a good one...here goes. Hey, small indie company! I really love Runescape, especially the quests, and wish we could have more of them every year. I understand that at the end of the day, you have to run a profitable business, but like the rest of the community at large, I wish you would cut back on MTX and gimmicks like Menaphos. Also, please look into setting up Indian servers again...thanks.

Tell me your darkest secret that would make Zaros a follower of you.
Such blasphemy; I would never try to make The Empty Lord do anything.

December 2017 033.png

QUESTCAPING

What is the correct way to pronounce "refridgerator"?
The way you would pronounce it! Re-fri-juh-rator

ISKH

Oi Cucumber?
Well yeah, oi (??) is cucumber in Korean, which is also what my favourite type of kimchi happens to be made of (?? ???)

If you had to call on 4 mates to stand around in corners and look after you, who would they be?
What a strange question...Suli, Row, Questcaping and Santa, probably

Do you travel abroad with Kimchi or Lime Pickle?
No, of course not. How strange.

And can you sing Jingle Bells in Korean? Our family did a really bad job of learning it once.
Haha, I suppose I could look up the lyrics, but since Christmas isn't really very big here, I don't really sing it in English, either.

CHOTO

Hoods Im late as usual.
Better late than never!

When did you start playing?
I don't remember exactly; probably first did Tutorial Island in 2004 or thereabouts.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
I believe it was the 99 Farming Cape (from warbands but ahhh) followed by 99 FM

December 2017 034.png

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
If you value your life, LEAVE. IMMEDIATELY.
On a more serious note, probably places like Goa and Kerala; the atmosphere is really relaxed in general, and the people are friendly, with lots to do and see. And I guess the Taj Mahal in Agra.

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
In RS: Priffdinas, The Lost Grove and the Tzhaar City.

IRL: Venice, Italy, Parpan, Switzerland, Seoul, South Korea, Madurodam, Netherlands, Japan and London.

December 2017 035.jpg

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
A place for everything and everything in its place.

Which quest you believe to be the best?
The World Wakes, definitely. It set in motion so many important events, and represents the literal end of an era.

December 2017 036.png

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?
I play the piano/keyboard, though I'm not great at it. I would like to learn to play the guitar (I need one restrung for a left handed player)

Tell us the story behind your name!
Well, my original RSN was Ashemarine, which just became a name I used for most online profiles I created, and it didn't mean that much. Nex Sicarius, on the other hand, means roughly Death(ly)/Murder Assassin, or even Nex Killer, and I came up with it way back when Nex was the toughest boss in the game, and I got 4 kills in with the first Deathtouched darts released.

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
My external HDD, heh.

Nox weaponry when?
Well, I changed my RSN after I bought the Nox Staff, and am saving up for the other two (and will only change my RSN once I have them)

Best from Clan Quest?
What? Like the best person, or meme? If you mean the best clannie, I honestly can't decide...Tyco overall, for being so helpful and knowledgeable, and Questcaping, Suli and Rei on a more personal level.

December 2017 037.png

Best film ever?
It's impossible to decide on one, but my favourite is 12 Angry Men (1957), followed by To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

December 2017 038.jpg

Best book ever?
This one I'm more sure of; having read over a thousand books in different languages, I can say with certainty that my favourite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, followed by The Fountainhead.

Woot! We are done for another month. Thank you, Nex, for the great interview. And happy holidays to everyone!

Clan Quest RAWR Awards
November 2017

Welcome back, noobs! This month we’ve had three nominees: Derparnieux, Questcaping and Choto 3000.

Id like to nominate "Derp" for the next participant "RAWR" because of how kind and helpful he was to getting me to join the clan, I can also say Tyco Elf helped

a lot also but Derp is the one who also sponsored me so I could join clan and then even walked me through everything from the runescape website/clan

quest wiki/ to the offsite and how to submit and do everything on here. he's a kind genuine person and I think he deserves this reward!!

Also its not just that you can ask Derp anything in game or off game for help and he will do his best to help you with whatever you need no matter

what that need is! so I want to personally say thanks to Derp for being a kind loving person to someone he's never known before! ONE OF A KIND!

"RAWR FOR DERP"!

"Tyco elf" wrote:

I nominate Questcaping because of her heroic actions as the Clan Quest Operator during Dimension of the Dammed. She was patient and supported the team through major Discord crashes, delayed finale and chaotic creaming.

I'd like to nominate Choto3000 for being a good role model in the hard work that he puts in on the magazines and other tasks. I wish you the best Choto! <3

Two judges were involved in the selection of a winner. And they chose....

Congratulations!

-----|-----

Wait a second... -You may say- What are the RAWR Awards?? Check this link!

PS: Please remember no clannie is better than other just because they won a RAWR edition. You're already a winner if you made it to this thread, because it means you care about others and make our clan a better place every day. Thanks to Suli, Questcaping, Sean and Tyco for nominating and congratulations to Derp, Caping and Choto (ye, I’m congratulating myself 1- icon biggrin.png). See you next month!

MagazineClanQuest.png
Bulletin - December 2017

Before you know it, it is already the last month of 2017. It is tempting to already look back at the amazing year we've had so far, but that would not include the things we still have planned for the last month of the year.

Event Calendar
About a week ago we announced the Clan Quest Event Calendar. This calendar will contain all the announced events as much as we can catch up. Check the thread for links on how to add the events to your own calendar, or check the Clan Quest homepage.

We will be working on making the integration with the website nicer, and hopefully also add an integration for Discord. However, right now we're focused on finishing the Wiki system to make it easier for all members to add content to the Clan Quest website. We will also be providing ample tools to integrate with the event calendar for events. Hopefully we'll be able to make this available early 2018.

C.O.R.E. Events
The C.O.R.E. Events have now been going for two months, and I think we can say they have been really successful. We usually have just under a dozen attendees, and the activities have ranged from Underground Pass races to Stealing Creation, from killing moles in bronze to leading ducks across Gielinor.

The attendance can still be a lot better, and I am hoping that more and more people will tag on and have some fun with the clanmates. We all decided to be in a clan for a reason after all! I think we have shown that the activity doesn't really alter the fact that the most fun you can have in an MMO like RuneScape is with each other.

Right now C.O.R.E. events are organised every Saturday at 2pm Game Time, but the entire organisation progress for these events is documented, so it only takes the time to attend to organise your own C.O.R.E. event at a time more convenient for you. Get in touch if you want to know more, or just check out the info thread.

Clan Logo
This year's Runefest preparation exposed the fact that we never really thought the new Clan Quest logo through. We set off to rectify this using the best resource we have available in this clan: you! The content editors already did a brainstorm about one possible logo design, but we're almost sure we can come up with something better together.

For now we're only looking at concepts, so you don't need any artistic skills to make a suggestion for our Clan Quest logo. Head over to this thread to share your ideas, or to comment on others.

Runefest 2018 preparation
The new clan logo is only one of the things we are working on in the long path to Runefest 2018. It is still a long while away, but we want to come prepared this year to make it the best Clan Quest Runefest (too many rhyming things!) ever. As soon as we get our logo finalised, we will start working on a set of Clan Quest merchandise that you can individually purchase and have shipped to you using the modern wonders of the internet and international shipping.

We are also trying to wage interest in real-life meetups in general. Adding a real-life component to your clanlife can really make a huge change to how you experience the clan and the games you share with them, and we want to make sure this is something available for as many of you as possible. Please take just 5 minutes to fill in the survey, even if you're not interested in real-life meetips. This helps us organising the things you want. More info in this thread.

Clan Quest Friends Chat
Based on some recent discussions and the recent quest release, I would like to remind everybody that in addition to the RuneScape clan chat, we also have a friends chat. The friends chat is unsurprisingly called "Clan Quest".

Please use the friends chat for events over your own friends chat. The friends chat is also used to discuss quest spoilers the first two weeks after release to make sure clan members who haven't had a chance to do the quest don't get spoiled. Finally, the friends chat can also be used to talk to our OSRS contingement 2- icon smile.gif

Everybody with a rank in the clan can obtain a rank in the friends chat. Ask your local High Councillor for more info.

Rank changes for avatar rework
Over the last week, more info about the avatar rework has been released. All the information has been shared on this offsite thread. With the avatar rework, we no longer need to have specific avatar wardens, and the admin rank will no longer have to fulfill that role. For now, we will leave the role in place. We are working on a new constitution for the clan that will probably require some rank changes, and we will include the removal of the need for the admin role as part of that.

That is all from me this month. Please remember that you can always ask me to discuss specific matters on the bulletin. If you'd rather discuss something in private with me or another councillor, that is also always possible. Just send me a PM and we'll get it sorted.

Article by Cireon

Ohai, fellow noobs.

We were presented with the magazine-related survey results, and we gotta say they are pretty positive. We will check every question and tell you what we think about them.

-Question #1: Are you aware that we have a monthly magazine?
92.5% of you answered “yes”, while 7,5% said “no”.

Only thing to say is that those that answered NO: you now know about it.

-Question #2: Do you read the magazine every month?
47,5% said “All of it, every month!”. 37,5% “Only sometimes”, and 15% said “I never read the magazine”

How can we attract you to read the magazine? What do you think we should improve?. We would like to receive some feedback. Please send your answers to those two questions! Santa and/or Choto will gladly receive them via offsite or Discord

-Question #3: Which parts of the magazine do you usually read?
Interviews with…: 93,9%
Monthly bulletin: 66,3%
Clan’s achievements:66,3%
Member's update: 51,5%
RSMV Reviews: 30,3%
Other articles: 51,5%

Same thing as above. Is there anything you would like us to improve? Send Santa and/or Choto your feedback!

-Question #4: How do you think the magazine should be released?
One issue every month (as it is now): 89,7%
Separate articles throughout the month (for example one article per week): 0%
A mix of both: ~8,3%
I don’t know: ~2%

We’ll keep it as it is, at least for now. We, just like you, have other things to do and we couldn’t dedicate to editing the magazine more than once a month.

-Question #5: What would you like to be added to the magazine, if anything?
There were 14 different answers for this question.

What we can tell you right now is that we’ll abide to the current policy. That means that, for now, we’ll accept RS or Clan related stuff only. We’ll let you know if that changes!

As a conclusion. We want to thank you for your support. The magazine wouldn’t be what it is without its fan club. We keep doing this because we know there are people out there who read and (hopefully) enjoy what we have to say. Keep rocking!

The magazine noobs.

The Oncoming Sandstorm

A Recap of RuneScape's Desert Quest Series

In light of the desert quest series receiving four new instalments alongside the Menaphos update, I will be posting articles across the next few months with recaps of what has happened so far in the story. This is just something to read and get to speed on past events quickly, seeing as these quests were completed by many of us years back...and the series is long!

The last additions to the series, priming us for the final showdown - Do No Evil, Our Man in the North and 'Phite Club.

"The punkiest monkey that ever popped-"
December 2017 039.png

With Amascut's plan depending on the imprisonment of the desert demi gods, the best course of action is to continue breaking her control over them. The adventurer meets with Pharaoh Senliten and Leela once again to receive their next mission. First, Senliten tells us a story from her childhood, when the desert lands were instead lush green forests teeming with life. She had nearly been attacked by a jackal in the forest, but was saved by a group of monkeys that jumped down and bared their teeth at the jackal. Senliten is distressed to find that monkeys no longer inhabit the Kharidian desert naturally, and tasks the adventurer with restoring them to her kingdom. Senliten believes there is a connection between the disappearance of the monkeys and the demi god Apmeken, a patron god of the monkeys. To see the desert monkeys, her mortal embodiment, abandoned by the Kharidian people, was enough to drive her away from the desert lands. It is clear that monkeys need to be introduced back into the Kharidian desert, not as pets - but as free roaming creatures.

The most obvious place to organise a monkey colony would be on Ape Atoll, the island ruled by monkeys of all types. Donning their monkeyspeak amulet and their magical gree gree, the adventurer ventures over to Ape Atoll once again, pondering who they will speak to regarding their colonisation plan. The adventurer decides on confronting the three wise monkeys situated in the Temple of Marimbo. Though they are a little crazy - and communicating with them tends to be problematic - they are at least the most reasonable monkeys on the island. When the mute monkey Iwazaru hints to his brothers there is a human nearby (meaning the adventurer), the adventurer decides to finally reveal that they are a human to the three wise monkeys. At first they don't believe the claim is true, so the adventurer plans to remove the gree gree once they deal with the temple's gorilla guard. The adventurer cunningly lures the guard away from the three wise monkeys with bananas, and leaves him to devour the bananas in a crate at the other end of the temple. With some privacy, the adventurer takes off their gree gree, proving they are really human. After earning the trust of the wise monkeys through a series of tests to prove the adventurer's knowledge of Apmeken, they agree to travel with the adventurer to the desert and suggest the adventurer speaks to King Awowogei about gathering more monkey colonists.

December 2017 041.png

Upon meeting with King Awowogei, it takes a bit of work convincing him that a monkey colony in the desert is a worthwhile pursuit. The adventurer suggests that a desert colony will be good for developing a new trade system run by the monkey colonists, and after listing off possible trade good options - scimitars, magic carpets, gems, kebabs and so on - it's choc-ice that grabs the king's attention. The king declares that he may consider allowing a trade colonisation if the adventurer brings him some choc-ice to sample, specifically in the shape of a monkey. The adventurer travels to the town of Nardah where Rokuh the leading choc-ice seller resides. Unfortunately, he has no means for creating choc-ice shaped like a monkey. However, the adventurer remembers back to the time they first created their monkeyspeak amulet, believing the monkey head mould will work just as well for the choc-ice as it did for the gold. They retrieve the mould and hand it over to Rokuh, who promptly creates a new choc-ice shaped like a monkey's head. Rokuh warns as that the change in shape is not fit for the magic keeping the choc-ice frozen and that it will quickly melt into sludge. Furthermore, teleporting is likely to further disrupt the freezing magic.

December 2017 042.png

To deal with the melting problem, the adventurer equips some runes for casting ice spells on the choc-ice, and continually casts the spells as they make their way by foot to Ape Atoll. After their long and arduous journey to the island, precariously trying to keep the choc-ice frozen, the adventurer (in monkey form) enters King Awowogei's throne room and hands him the monkey-shaped choc-ice. He is satisfied with the taste of the choc-ice and agrees to establishing a monkey choc-ice trade settlement in the desert. Awowogei hands the adventurer a 'barrel of monkeys', and the adventurer heads back to the three wise monkeys in the temple. They jump in the barrel to be transported...however Iwazaru appears to be distressed about something. His lack of voice makes it difficult to discern what exactly he is carrying on about.

Mizaru, the blind monkey, tells us we need to go 'between the camel's humps' to setup the monkey colonisation. Travelling through the Kharidian desert, we eventually find the right place situated to the west of Pollnivneach and between two large sandy mountains (or camel humps). After letting the monkeys out to wander around, they conclude they can't settle in this location until some improvements are made. First, the wise monkeys task us with connecting the magic carpet transportation network to the new monkey colony. The adventurer heads into Al Kharid and speaks with Ali Morrisane about arranging the new route, though he is reluctant at first and mentions having lost some money when previously creating new carpet routes. Metal crates containing goods for a carpet station were lost during a sandstorm on their way to Menaphos and have since been buried in the sands eats of the Bedabin camp. Ali proposes that the scientist called Ava in draynor has been working on metal detection devices and that such a device may help with finding the metal crates he had lost. Despite Ali's unwillingness to let the adventurer search for the crates (in fear of the goods being stolen), the adventurer sets off anyway to speak to Ava and get their own accumulator upgraded before they search for the crates.

December 2017 043.png

The adventurer, wielding their upgraded backpack 'alerter' treks out to the location in the desert Ali mentioned. After some time spent digging around the sand and a couple misses with crates that don't contain the magic carpets, on the next discovery, the adventurer cracks open the crate to find the missing carpets they've been searching for. The adventurer lugs the carpets back to the monkey colony and sets up a new destination for the network. The next task for building the colony involves some renovations on the area. Iwazaru supplies the adventurer with the 'Economy building for dummies' book which guides the work to be carried out. The adventurer starts by clearing the rubble from around the camp site, then builds a tent and some stalls for the monkey traders. They then stock the trading stalls with various supplies for the desert (including bananas). After setting up the trader stalls, the wise monkeys appear to have yet another request - armed guards, to keep peace within the colony. Specifically, the three wise monkeys say the guards should be equipped with special monkey knives, and suggest the adventurer pickpockets them from the monkey knife fighters on Ape Atoll.

December 2017 044.png

Having obtained the knives through some muscle and quick moves, the adventurer brings them back to the monkey desert colony and guards are posted around the camp site. The three wise monkeys are content with the setup of the colony, and believe there is nothing else left for thr adventurer to assist them with. Though Iwazaru is still somewhat rattled. We head back to Senliten's tomb to report on our mission, only to find Osman is there arguing with Leela and the queen's spirit. Osman is disappointed Leela had abandoned her duties as a spy for Al Kharid only waste time setting up a 'wildlife sanctuary'. Leela insists she has no desire to be an agent of his any longer and has found her own path to follow. When Osman has departed, the adventurer informs Senliten that the monkey colony is established. Just before the queen can congratulate us however, she senses unrest with the monkeys in the desert and commands the adventurer to return to the colony without delay.

The adventurer quickly heads back to the colonisation, only to find its stalls are in ruins, and no monkeys are in sight except for lifeless corpses. While investigating the corpses, the ghost of a single monkey appears and begins to roam about the ruined colony - though the adventurer in incapable of speaking to it. The adventurer retrieves their amulet of ghostspeak, then presses the two amulets against each other in the hopes of combing their arcane power. The amulets fuse together, forming a 'camulet', and the adventurer equips it to test out its power. The adventurer - now able to communicate with the monkey ghost - discovers that three masked murderers attacked the camp, killed its inhabitants, then abducted the three wise monkeys. The ghost claims the murderers were 'fragments of gods', and recalls that one of them took Iwazaru and was headed to the smoky well in Pollnivneach. Before the adventurer heads off to rescue Iwazaru, the monkey ghost promises it will try and track down the other two masked murderers.

December 2017 045.png
December 2017 046.png

After equipping their masked earmuffs and descending into the smoky well, the adventurer traverses past the barrier of the banshee lair and stumbles upon one of the masker murderers - a gorilla shaped creature. It declares itself to be Leeuni and that it was formed from the lips of a goddess. Leeuni commands the adventurer to leave, though they refuse to without taking Iwazaru with them. A battle begins between the adventurer and Leeuni, with the latter continuously removing the adventurer's masked earmuffs and exposing them to the smoke in the room. After a struggle, the adventurer defeats Leeuni. For a moment afterwards, the figure of a woman with the face of a monkey appears in the dungeon before the adventurer, reciting some vague words. The adventurer shrugs it off, then takes Iwazaru with them back to safety. Back at the colony, the monkey ghost informs the adventurer on where a second butcher had taken Mizaru - somewhere beneath a cave full of bugs. The adventurer believes this to be the kalphite cave in the north, and sets off after preparing for another likely battle.

December 2017 047.png

Descending to the bottom of the kalphite hive, further beyond the lair of the kalphite queen, the adventurer finds where Mizaru is being kept. His capturer introduces herself as Ayuni, sister of Leeuni. Once again, a fight ensues between the adventurer and the divine gorilla monstrosity. The adventurer tries to keep a distance between them to avoid the heaviest hits, and launches ranged attacks from a distance. They emerge from the battle victorious, and once again see the mysterious monkey-faced woman appear and quickly disappear. Running over to Mizaru, the adventurer tells him that Iwazaru is save but they still need to find Kikazaru. Mizaru tells us that fifty years past, Amascut - in attempts to disrupt the peace created by the lesser gods - placed a curse on the goddess Apmeken, stealing her sight, hearing and speech. Amascut forged corrupted creatures from Apmeken's senses - Leeuni, Ayuni and Eruni, and had set them loose on the monkeys that previously lived in the desert. The three brothers - Iwazaru, Mizaru and Kikazaru survived and fled to Ape Atoll. With Mizaru, the adventurer heads back to the monkey colony, and the monkey ghost reveals that Kikazaru is somewhere in the ruins of Uzer.

December 2017 048.png

Exploring the room beyond the demonic portal in Uzer, the adventurer finds the final sister called Eruni, holding Kikazaru captive. Eruni launches projectile attacks at the adventurer, forcing them to hide behind pillars for safety, She summons a groups of demons as well to complicate the fight even further. Dodging the attacks and taking down the demons, the adventurer strikes enough hits on Eruni to finally take her down. The monkey-faced woman appears once again and speaks something about stolen ears. With Kikazaru - the deaf monkey - freed, and all three of Amascut's creations defeated, both Kikazaru and the adventurer make their way back to the monkey colony. After reuniting the brothers at the camp, admit they knew the monsters of Amascut would likely attack the colony, though they expected they would be prepared to face them with the armed monkey guard. If they had informed the adventurer, they feared the colony may have been halted, and the monsters would never be dealt with. The adventurer asks what has become of Apmeken now that Amascut's creations are destroyed. On cue, Apmeken herself appears once again before the adventurer, finally introducing herself properly. She thanks the adventurer for the work they have done in bringing monkeys back to the desert, and admits she was wrong to turn her back on the desert lands. Apmeken declares she will remain with her Kharidian people and is ready to battle Amascut whenever the need arises.

December 2017 049.png

Speaking to the three wise monkeys again, it appears they neither saw or heard Apmeken and believes the adventurer has gone mad. Nonetheless, the adventurer helps restore the settlement to its former glory and gives a parting farewell to the monkeys. Returning to Senliten's tomb, the adventurer tells both the queen and Leela that the desert monkeys are finally safe and thriving in their new colony. We explain to the Pharaoh queen that Amascut had robbed Apmeken of her three senses and mutated them into monsters that attacked the monkeys. With the three monsters defeated, Apmeken has returned to the desert lands, Amascut is likely more weakened, and the monkey colony can trade in peace. Senliten, grateful for the work done, gives us her thanks, though warns there will be more battles to wage against Amascut's evil.

"The arena has chosen its champion."
December 2017 051.png

The adventurer catches up with Grand Vizier Hassan at his residence in Menaphos, who asks us to deliver a progress report to Emir Ali in Al Kharid. Before heading off, Hassan sugests we pay a visit to the grand library and find the book Osman requested before the envoy's departure to Menaphos. Entering the enormous library beneath the palace, we speak with the librarian called Kohnen. Kohnen says that all the books on royal lineage were burned, and that our best chance of finding the right book would be sourcing it from somewhere beyond the city. He suggests talking to Aristarchus who resides in Pollnivneach, though beforehand we need to authorise his passage into the city with Commander Akhomet. The adventurer finds Akhomet outside the palace doors, and speaks with her about the matter. She eventually obliges and grants Aristarchus free passage, and before we leave, warns that some traitors from her guard have been gathering near Pollnivneach and may pose a threat to us.

December 2017 052.png

Meeting Aristarchus on the outskirts of Pollnivneach, we ask if he can help us find a reliable source of information regarding Menaphos's royal bloodline. He claims there is a long forgotten stash of documents hidden within the library that he can access. Given that the adventurer has gained a passage for him into the city, Aristarchus agrees to help them out by finding the stash. At this moment, one of the menaphite traitors spying on Aristarchus emerges with a gang of thugs, intending to steal the city pass for themselves. The adventurer handles the gang, fighting them off one by one. With the thugs dealt with and Aristarchus is safe to travel, the adventurer heads back to Menaphos.

December 2017 053.png

Back in Menaphos, we reconnect with Aristarchus, who hands us the 'The Hawfully Hungry Hyena' childrens' book. Inside is information on the royal bloodline, safely disguised by the cover. With solid information obtained, the adventurer heads back to meet Senliten to compare the book with her knowledge of the royal family and gain a better insight on both Senliten and her son's time on the throne. During the discussion with Senltien and Leela about the Menaphite royal lineage and Osman's plans, Senliten reveals that Osman (and in turn Leela) are part of the royal bloodline and her descendants, and that Osman has been building towards a coup against the current Pharaoh. While Senliten and Leela both agree that the Pharaoh - now revealed as a usurper - should be taken down purely for his unjust rule over the desert lands, they think that Osman is approaching it too eagerly with too much risk attached.

December 2017 054.png

Senliten goes on to tell us about her son and successor, Osmumten. After the fall of Tumeken and deterioration of the Kharidian lands, many people blamed Pharaoh Osmumten for their plight after the war and plotted to overthrow his regime. He was killed, and his usurper begun a new bloodline on the Menaphos throne - a bloodline of which the current Pharaoh is a member of. Senliten concludes that for Osman to be adopting similar methods of deception and sly plotting during his coup means he does not display the qualities expected of a king - the strength of will and character. She believes Amascut had been involved with the downfall of her son and bloodline so as to corrupt the god of strength, Het, and asks us to investigate the matter further. Only when we are certain Osman has proven to be a good leader, rather than another unaware 'extension' to Amascut's long-arching plot, will Senliten reveal the name of her grandchild. A descendant of the royal bloodline who had been smuggled out of Menaphos, and a crucial part for the coup.

December 2017 055.png

We head to the palace in Al Kharid to meet with Osman about the book we have discovered. The adventurer also informs him of what Senliten had previously spoken about at the tomb, though he is not willing to cooperate and disregards the arguments of the queen and his daughter.

We then goes to Emir Ali and passes over Hassan's report about Menaphos negotiations. At this moment, the doors of the palace open and Ambassador Jabari strides in unexpectedly. He reveals he has been following the adventurer's movements in Menaphos, then demands that they hand over the book they had stolen. At the same time, Jabari summons magical clones of himself in preparation for battle. He declares he has no care for the royal bloodline, and announces he is only loyal to the true ruler of the desert. Then, to make matters worse, Jabari lets loose the details about his previous deals with Osman - a trade of information. Osman had procured information about Osmumten's child in return for divulging the travel plans of Prince Ali - leading to his kidnapping. In backlash, Osman declares he had discovered Ambassador Jabari was responsible for Emir Shah's poisoning. Enraged with the treachery set against him, Emir Ali orders for Osman and Jabari to be arrested, though Jabari and his clones quickly teleport away. By Emir Ali's orders, the adventurer quickly searches for Jabari in Al Kharid.

December 2017 056.png

The adventurer manages to find Jabari (on several counts) though each time it turns out to be one of the clones he had conjured. He gradually reveals his 'lady' - meaning Amascut - has bigger fish to fry than Osman's claim to the throne, though he will perish once her plan comes to fruition. After finding the last clone of Jabari, he challenges us to meet him at the duel arena for a fight to the death. We agree to the terms - a clean fight with no tricks. But this is Jabari and of course, that's not how things turn out. The adventurer engages into battle against Jabari, working past his clone deceptions to make hits against the real Jabari. By the end of the fight, despite the adventurer working past his illusions, Jabari casts one more magical hit on the adventurer - only for it to be blocked by the demi god Het himself. Jabari, enraged by his defeat, teleports away.

December 2017 057.png

The adventurer is surprised by Het's materialisation in the duel arena, which the god claims is a result of past plots of spies and assassins being unwoven. Amascut's corruption over him has weakened in the process, and he is ready to take his place in the Kharidian lands again. Het thanks the adventurer for their past work helping to release his sisters - Crondis and Apmeken - from Amascut's corruption, though is concerned about Scabaras. He believes that when the last of their group reveals himself, Amascut's plan will be enacted. Het concludes that he will head towards Sophanem to combat the plague inflicting the population of the city, though he will be ready to fight against Amascut alongside his siblings when the adventurer calls. After Het departs, the adventurer heads back towards the Al Kharid palace to speak with the Emir and Osman.

December 2017 058.png

We catch Emir Ali and Osman in the midst of an argument, with Osman desperately trying to convince Ali he had acted only in defence of Al Kharid. In his eyes, taking the Menaphos throne would repair the connection between the two cities and create the alliance that has been missing for so long. Osman says he regrets what happened to Emir Shah, and that he considered him a friend before his Emir - though he still deems his actions necessary for the good of of Al Kharid. Emir Ali, angered by Osman's plotting, accepts that he will not have Osman executed for treachery but instead exiles him from Al Kharid. After Osman's departure, we inform Emir Ali about the duel with Jabari and the reappearance of the god Het. Emir Ali is hopeful about things, knowing Al Kharid's patron god has returned, though the adventurer still considers the future unstable while Amascut is at large.

"Your essence was spent long ago. Your shadow is no longer cast. "
December 2017 059.png

Some time has passed since our last escapade with the Kharidian crowd. After a significant break with events, we head into the city once again to speak about any developments with Grand Vizier Hassan. The Al Kharid ambassador declares he has something important to discuss with us, though it needs to be kept secret (his host, Grand Vizier Ehsan, blocks her ears and starts humming to herself). Hassan then declares the area is safe, and Osman reveals himself to the party, much to the surprise of the adventurer.

December 2017 060.png

Osman explains that the adventurer's help with acquiring the lineage information and their reputation with the city leaders has aided him in securing allies within Menaphos, and he had been able to sneak in below the Pharaoh's radar. He goes on to express his disdain towards the corruption that has taken hold of Menaphos and caused many of its citizens to suffer injustice. He attributes the cause of it to the regime of the Pharaoh, and is hatching a plan to throw a coup with the backing of the four city district leaders. Knowing the adventurer has fostered good relations with the Menaphites, he is depending on the adventurer to win over the loyalty of the leaders. Osman believes such a coup will persuade the Pharaoh to step down from the thrown peacefully, without need for bloodshed.

December 2017 061.png

The adventurer agrees to the plan. Osman asks that they tell the leaders to meet at at the base of the pyramid, and following the coup, the adventurer nominates Osman as the replacement Pharaoh. He suggests we speak to Ehsan first given her close proximity, and then departs. Ehsan (who claims with a sly smile she heard nothing from the conversation) requests that the adventurer addresses her in a courting manner before discussing the topic of the coup. She is willing to give her support, on the condition she maintain a position of power when Osman becomes Pharaoh. Additionally, Ehsan asks the adventurer deals with sailors on strike in the port district who have been disrupting her merchant business - an act of compensation for her involvement in the coup.

December 2017 062.png

Entering the ports of Menaphos, the adventurer meets with 'Admiral' Wadud and informs him about Osman's coup. The adventurer manages to win over Wadud's opinion about the matter, and it seems they have another leader ready to back up Osman when they face the Pharaoh at the palace. However, Wadud of course has one task for the adventurer to complete before he is willing to meet during the coup. He asks that the adventurer recruits new staff for his port that are willing to do heavy manual labour - given that his current staff have gone on strike (and by his orders). He suggests we speak to Batal in the workers' district about the solution for this. Seeing as this would fix both Wadud and Ehsan's problems, the adventurer makes their way to the workers' district to discuss the coup and the port staff recruitment with Batal.

December 2017 063.png

Upon meeting Batal in the poor environment that is the workers' district, it turns out he's a leader keen on change to improve the livelihood of his people. He is quick to offer his backing in Osman's coup against the Pharaoh, though humbly requests we help him with his efforts in restoring the rights of his people. Batal asks the adventurer attempts to convince members of the imperial district to resume proceedings that will improve the life of worker district citizens. It would allow the workers to retire with land beyond their district, finally bringing them closer to the status of port, imperial and merchant citizens. The adventurer agrees to return to Batal with a signet from the Pharaoh that would authorise the change, and promptly heads off to speak with Commander Akhomet at the front of the palace.

December 2017 064.png

Though discussing a coup with the commander of the imperial guard seems ludicrous, the adventurer knows Akhomet keeps a mind for herself. Akhomet warns the adventurer she would have them arrested and punished for such talk of treason - though the adventurer, nonetheless, remains adamant about the matter. She allows us to explain our reason for the coup, and the adventurer appeals to Akhomet's doubt about the Pharoah and the misuse of his power she has witnessed. Eventually, with enough convincing on the adventurer's part, Akhomet relents and promises the support from her guard in the event of the coup taking place. One last request she places on the adventurer to execute is to bring in the Jack of Spades, a Menaphos criminal that has long evaded her capture. It appears the adventurer's next destination is the lobby of the shifting tombs, where Ozan has been laying low.

Underground in the lobby, the adventurer brings Ozan up to speed with the coup that is being organised. Ozan, naturally, is not keen on being taken prisoner by Akhomet, and suggests we fake the death of the Jack of Spades in order to convince the commander he has been dealt with. Ozan hands the adventurer the mask he had used while maintaining the alias, instructing them to cover it in some blood. The bloodied mask may be enough proof to back up the adventurer's claim of killing the Jack of Spades. The adventurer uses some blood discarded at the fish stall in the market to cover the mask with, and heads back to present it to Commander Akhomet.

Though the commander is at first curious about what happened to the body, 'buried in fire' turns out a decent enough conclusion for her. As reward for our efforts, she gives us her support in the coup and the Pharaoh's signets that Batal desired. We then return to Batal in the workers' district and present him the signets for him to disperse. Batal, now content with affairs, agrees to help Osman's coup and additionally offers a number of recruits willing to work for Admiral Wadud. Back at the southern ports, we speak to Wadud and inform him that he will be supplied new staff from the worker district. Wadud in turn, agrees to provide backing in the coup and also end the strikes taking place that have been hindering Ehsan's trade. Finally, the adventurer heads back to Grand Vizier Ehsan's residence, and informs her on the port strikes. She is glad to know we have dealt with the issue, and wholeheartedly commits to Osman's coup against the Pharaoh.

December 2017 065.png

With the party of the four leaders - and in extension all four districts - backing Osman's plans, the adventurer has nothing left to do but meet with Osman and the leaders at the Grand Pyramid during the night, as per arrangement. With everything in place, the adventurer is the first to confront the Pharaoh in the throne room. They declare they are speaking to the Pharaoh on behalf of the true heir, Osman, and the people of Menaphos, requesting that the Pharaoh steps down from his position as ruler willingly. Unsurprisingly, the Pharaoh refuses the notion of stepping down peacefully, and summons four guards to kill the adventurer and any accomplices for treachery. The adventurer manages to fight past the palace guards, and the Pharaoh swiftly enters into combat himself, proving a formidable foe with magic and melee. Mid-way during the battle the Pharaoh removes his mask, revealing a face scoured by corruption - quite like the thralls of Amascut the adventurer had encountered in caverns beneath Menaphos. Dodging blasts of corrupted fire and magical projectiles from the Pharaoh's sceptre, the adventure pushes on through the battle. After much struggle they deal enough hits on the Pharaoh to subdue him, and he finally yields.

December 2017 066.png

The leaders of the Menaphos districts surround him now that the fighting has ended. The Pharaoh, now weakened, explains what brought about his dictatorship of Menaphos. Initially, he had aspired to undo the damage caused by his ancestors during their time on the throne, and sought the help of the desert gods. Unfortunately the god that responded was Amascut, and she turned the Pharaoh into another corrupted tool to progress her needs. Jabari, Amascut's servant, maintained the corruption's presence in the Pharaoh's mind through careful words as an advisor. Only after being confronted head on by the adventurer and the coup, has the corruption taking hold on the Pharaoh's mind receded. As for his fate, the Pharaoh claims he is willing to face whatever punishment is delivered, though longs to seek penance through serving Menaphos. The adventurer declares that his fate should be the choice of the Menaphos leaders, and consults them about it. The four leaders each present their varying outcomes for the Pharaoh - execution, imprisonment, manual labour and exile - and it is clear the adventurer is the appropriate party member to deliver a majority ruling. Just after they make a decision, Osman teleports into the throne room behind the Pharaoh. He declares himself the Pharaoh and deems only he can decide the usurper's fate, swiftly stabbing the previous Pharaoh with his dagger. With the promise of 'no bloodshed' clearly broken, the Pharaoh dies on the floor of the throne room, and Osman takes his long-sought claim as ruler of Menaphos.

December 2017 067.png

During this time, far beneath the surface of Menaphos, Jabari, two thralls of Amascut, and Amascut - the Devourer herself - stand before the ancient soul altar. The Kharid-ib, the coveted Al Kharid treasure Ozan had been attempting to reclaim, is floating above the centre of the altar. While Jabari attempts to discuss the political events transpiring above them, Amascut expresses her lack of concern with the humans now that her 'ritual' is nearly complete. A mysterious voice begins to communicate through Amascut's thralls, seemingly begging for her to cease her actions. Amascut however is beyond reasoning and declares that once the god Scabaras has fallen, she will 'consume' the heart - clearly referring to the Kharid-ib. Speaking through Jabari, the mysterious voice pleads with Amascut, finally referring to her as 'daughter'. Amascut, enraged now, denies such a claim and an ethereal power shoots out from the Kharid-ib into the thralls present at the altar. Though never mentioned by name, it is clear the voice comes from Tumeken, the god of the desert long thought deceased and father of Amascut.

December 2017 068.png

And so Amascut's plans are converging and she is closer to her goal. A new Pharaoh rules over Menaphos, though the future of the Kharidian population still appears bleak. Mortals and gods will band together to face the greatest foe to spawn out of the desert lands.

Will we destroy the Devourer, the goddess who has haunted the living and the dead for centuries? Will we instead manage to restore Amascut's sanity and save the daughter of Tumeken and Elidinis, the sister of Icthlarin? Or will the allies of the desert lands fail in their attempt to stop her?
The time for one final showdown is soon to arrive.

RSMV Review

Merry christmas guys. Feels weird typing this in January but eh. I get the reviews done for the whole year in one sitting. This is Modern Baseball's Your Graduation done by 99orwoh. His cocky funny attitude shows through this classic song, with a splatter of inside jokes here and there which none of us will get. It's still very comedic if you're as childish as me haha. Most of you will call it lame though. Still, worth a watch.
