Summary

Sillycat98 began his journey on RuneScape in June of 2005. In the beginning he did not know about banks, and learned the spawn points for all of the bronze items because he died a lot. His first quest was Ernest the chicken, completed after someone standing at Lumbridge lured him and a bunch of other level 3's straight from tutorial island to Draynor Manor and into the room with the skeleton underneath the stairs.

After the quest was completed he decided, for some strange reason, that he would not buy any armour he could not make. He then proceeded to train mining to 60 before getting members, for the sole purpose of the mining guild under Falador. The side effect of this decision was there were suddenly a lot more quests to do, he had done all of the free to play quests quite some time ago.

Soon mining lay forgotten, all the other skills were trained. Farming was released and he wondered, "Where in the world will I store all of this farming equipment? I don't have enough bank space as it is." Then construction and he thought, "Why in the world would I want a virtual house?" He trained them anyway, sure that some day he would need them for some quest that came out. He used the miniquest Tears of Guthix at every opportunity to train his lowest stats without having to actually train. However he received a black mark on his account for this after being reported saying that he used Tears to train his account. He was muted and is still miffed that he could not appeal this and still has the marks on his account for saying that he used a in game resource to train his lowest stats.

He was hooked on quests, making sure to have them done as soon as possible after they came out. Then it happened... Recipe for disaster... He lacked the requirements for several of the sub-quests. He almost went insane trying to get those levels, some say he is still scarred from the agility and cooking requirement. He spent what felt like at least a week at skull ball, almost losing his sanity to the repetitive monotony. He then cooked so many lobsters at the rogues den that the waters of Catherby took years to recover the population. But at last the quest was complete.

He learned many things while training skills, he learned of the death of Steve Irwin while fishing and was told many things that helped him with his real life studies. He met friends from all over the world and he found friends that were starting a clan, a clan about questing. He joined and while things were kind of hectic for a few years he always seems to come back to RuneScape in the end.

These days he mostly gets on to use his free keys while patiently waiting for new quests or skills. He has tried to get into OSRS but is having a hard time considering it's taken him nearly 15 years to get 90 in all stats and he doesn't like starting over.

Origin of the name

Sillycat98 had a black and white tuxedo cat who was named Silly, who disappeared in the year of 1998. He was a great cat, always around when you wanted him and out of the way when you didn't. Unfortunately, he was a male cat and not neutered. He picked a fight with a large solid black Persian cat, and while he was victorious he was chastised for accidentally killing the other cat. Silly the cat then apparently decided to try his fortunes elsewhere and left never to be seen again. Sillycat98 has used this name ever sense in honor of this kitty.

Real Life

Sillycat98 is from the United States in the south eastern corner. He was born in the mid eighties and spent most of his childhood with his grandmother when he wasn't in school. His father was raised on a farm and believed in going to bed early and his mother worked nights for most of her life and he tended to take after her when it came to bedtimes, much to his fathers dismay. He starting in gaming early with a NES and proceeded to own nearly every console after.

He was always quiet and shy growing up, often made fun of in school due to his size and demeanor. He has always been an avid reader, especially of horror and is a fan of Steven King's books (not necessarily his tweets).

He also started working with computers at a young age, his first computer being a IBM with a 386 and 4mb ram running Windows 3.1 and DOS with 5 1/4in floppy drives. Unfortunately this particular computer was incompatible with all of the locally sold modems due to it only having ISA card slots and no serial bus, and so it was replaced with a Compaq Presario. He received his first laptop when he was 13 due to an error at a local computer shop. His fathers business had a laptop that would not power on, it was taken to a shop and diagnosed with a bad motherboard. He asked the boss at his fathers company if he could have the old laptop, as they had already ordered a new one and written the old one off. The problem it turned out was the power button and they let him keep the laptop. They also provided a PCMCIA 802.11b wireless card for the laptop. He then proceeded to set up his first wireless network by sharing the dial-up connection on his home desktop through a PCI wireless card he bought.

He first learned about RuneScape after his high school graduation when he was given a shiny new HP running Window's XP Media Center Edition (AMD Turion 1.6ghz with Nvidia Graphics) while working after college classes at the local Votech. Some of the kids hanging around had started playing and it intrigued him that all you needed to play was Java and dial-up. He then proceeded to play RuneScape so much that he wore the paint off the keys on the laptop. He was devastated though when this particular series of laptop had a problem with the motherboard and had to be repaired. He sent it off expecting it back in a week or maybe two when a hurricane hit the city it was in. It would be over a month before he got it back. It was at this point, using his fathers work laptop, that he learned that Intel absolutely sucks at GPUs. That is an opinion that he still holds to this day.

After his father died in 2009 he played RuneScape more in an effort to take his mind off of real life. He still cherishes the people that made that time easier to get through just by being there and talking to him. He moved away from the toxic environment of his birthplace in 2011 to get away from his fathers relatives and now lives farther south and takes care of his disabled mother. He is quite happy with this, people are nicer and he has better internet.

He now works in hotels and has become quite friendly and chatty but still does not like the way his voice sounds so does not voice chat in games. He is still afraid of crowds though, more than three or so people freak him out royally.
