The Raw Herring Appreciation Society was a gathering of Clan Quest members in Amsterdam that took place on 23rd July 2022. The meet-up saw Spy Whoman, Cireon, Shiro Shana, and Darkestnight meet for a walk around Amsterdam with a visit to The Van Gogh Museum, followed by some delicious ramen. Honourable mentions go out to Derparnieux who planned to attend by was unable due to illness.
The Van Gogh Museum was not home to just the work of Van Gogh, but also other artists who derived inspiration from him or emulated his work in some fashion. The Raw Herring Appreciation Society drank in the rich culture the museum had to offer, as documented below in this photo of the Society really appreciating an error message on an electronic notice board;
One of the reasons why the Raw Herring Appreciation Society gathering occurred was so that Darkestnight could see Sunflowers once more after it had left the National Art Gallery of London. Sunflowers was Darkestnight's white whale, and she was determined to see it once more. Here she can be seen falling down the rabbit hole that is Sunflowers;
What is a Society meeting without a luncheon? A bad Society meeting. Luckily the Raw Herring Appreciation Society had planned for this, and they dined at a modest ramen restaurant that despite it's humble size provided tasty food. Snippets of such food can be seen documented below;
The day concluded with a walk back to Amsterdam Centraal, dipping into various shops as the Society went. They found themselves passing bakeries, small tourist shops, a tulip market, and so many bicycles. Shiro and Cireon were particularly taken with the Lego shop for it's beautiful large scale recreations of iconic landmarks.
All in all, a good day was had and was hopefully one of the first of many more meet-ups in the Netherlands to come.
