Closing words

Just over a month ago, Diapolo10 came up with the idea of having a Clan Quest Advent Calendar this year. Despite the short notice, a group of people immediately jumped on the idea. In a true display of all the talents and love Clan Quest has to offer, the 25 days of advent came to be. I’ve been impressed with the variety and quality of the content, and what we have been able to create in just this short time.

As part of this, for the first time in Clan Quest history, we held a fundraising campaign for Direct Relief. By the time of writing, the donation counter stands at $500. Doing some quick maths, that is $20 for each daily contribution to the advent calendar. That is enough money to buy medical supplies and/or disaster relief to make a massive difference to a life, if not saving one. So through the effort of everybody who contributed at least a tiny bit towards the Advent Calendar by being on a stream, crafting some content, or donating, we helped make at least 25 lives better. So to all of you: thank you.

I have been asking for donations throughout the campaign. While you will be able to donate until the end of the year (please do!), today I just ask for one minute of your time to do just one thing: pick at least one thing from the Advent Calendar that you liked. Maybe you got a good chuckle out of it, maybe you think it was beautifully crafted, or it pleased you in some other way. On the overview page, you can see who was responsible for that day. Send them a DM telling you you liked that content. That’s all. It’ll take no more than a minute, doesn’t cost you a penny, and I promise you, you’ll be making someone’s day.

What you have seen over the past few weeks is not just a product of the people making the content. A lot of effort has been going on behind the scenes as well. That is why I want to do a special shoutout to some key people. I already mentioned Diapolo10 for coming up with the idea. I know we all ran away with it a bit more than you expected, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the spark you created. Questcaping, you’re the engine that keeps on running. Thanks for handling all the social media outreach, the event coordination, and a large portion of the content, not in the least directing the pantomime. Finally, Sirapyro, who despite having a busy real-life job helped me answer dumb wiki questions, and helped us edit the pantomime in what is probably the most professional production of our clan ever. More people were involved than I could mention here, so anybody involved in the Advent Team: thanks.

With that, it is time for me to stop talking, and give the stage to the Clan Quest pantomime of this year, a retelling of Desperate Measures. Below that, you can find Questcaping’s write-up on what went down with this year’s Secret Santa event!

Desperate Measures Pantomime

Secret Santa Write-up

Another year, another Clan Quest Secret Santa! It's a long-established tradition here in the RS3 Guild, and each year there's a fresh crop of fun, fitting and silly gifts handed out to the rest of the clan.

I (Questcaping) was one of the organisers this time round, meaning I got to see precisely all the fun that was being planned behind the scenes. Listed below are a few of my favourites! Gifters have been kept anonymous, for the sake of preserving the Mystery:

Derparnieux our resident treasure trail fanatic, was taken on a treasure hunt of his very own! He was given two riddles, each leading him to dig up a treasure chest at a specific location; a third prize was granted when he considered both riddles in tandem to work out the identity of his gifter.

The two riddles were:

---

You will find my first clue between a warrior and a mage, They were arguing about me, eyes light up like chrome! Together, we killed the Basilisk and and saved our home, Yet even arguments end, and my spirit still roams.

My name is many, yet very small. You will find me enjoying in spirit A keg of beer with my fellow warriors in the mess hall! They feel me there, and they do not fear it, For they all know, I am their greatest hero!

---

This second clue is kind of hidden in plain sight Restricted access, prove you're a friend - or be prepared for a fight! Be careful while digging, don't fall or you'll burn bright. You've come here before, to help a wizard in his plight.

Had to gather some crystals, gather pieces to a relic From some huge ugly brutes, definitely not angelic It is right by an entrance, please find it! As soon as you do, you will find out un-pleasantly, You need a map to go inside that place, and reveal my identity.

---

Derp, a well-seasoned clue-doer, was able to solve all three parts of his treasure hunt. Are you?

Robotwars666, a relatively new addition to Clan Quest (only having officially joined us earlier this month!) was welcomed into the clan with a sufficiently robot-themed gift -- as well as far more than enough food for a Christmas-appropriate pigging out!

His gift, all in all, consisted of... 100 Redberry pies, 100 meat pies, 100 apple pies, 100 garden pies, 100 fish pies, 100 admiral pies, 100 pork pies, 100 wild pies, 100 chocolate cakes, 100 cheesecakes, 100 bacon cheesecakes, 1000 ascension bolts, 50 nuts, 1 pair of black boots, 1 pair of stylish black glasses, 1 Gold Studded body/top, 1 gold studded trousers/chaps... and 100 teletabs!

Alongside the message: "For my favourite Robot this holiday season. Aside from the regular sweet and savoury treats, I took some inspiration from another legendary robot; The Terminator. Some nuts and bolts should you need some as well as the necessities of Arnie "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle Teletabs". Merry Christmas Robot!"

(Fun fact: this is officially the second Arnold Schwarzenegger-themed entry on this calendar.)

Robotwars certainly wasn't the only person to received a themed bevy of gifts. Darkestnight, known Sliske enthusiast, was given a fittingly Sliske-themed assortment of presents: a weapon from each of the Barrows Brothers (and the lone Sister), a hundred Barrows amulets, and five Sliskean essence. The message:

"A token from my beloved servants.

With love, Slis-- Santa"

And Borosouro, our resident Fremennik warrior (known formerly as Borokalla the Brave), was presented with a fine selection of Fremennik armour sets: one rock-shell, one spined and one skeletal, plus 15 patches with which to upgrade it all!

In the fine spirit of writing in this clan (as you may have seen Diapolo10 demonstrating on days 9 and 22 of this very calendar), two different clannies found their gifters going above and beyond on their personal messages -- they received their gifts primarily in the form of stories, accompanied by fitting in-game items!

And last, but certainly not least... 1ryb was quite beautifully gifted... 1 rib. (And a bond too. I guess.)

Thank you

Direct Relief

As part of this advent calendar, we are running a fundraising campaign to raise money for Direct Relief. Direct Relief is a humanitarian organization that improves the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilizing and providing essential medial resources needed for their care without regard to politics, religion, race, or gender identities. Direct Relief has earned a perfect 100 on Charity Navigator, which evaluates charitable organizations. We humbly ask that you support our campaign. Every small amount helps. Alternatively, use the button below to be taken to the donation page directly.
